I remember when it was just Hulu for $5 and Netflix for $8. Saved $50 a month from cable. Now it seems we spend more. I have four. Max, Peacock, Paramount and Hulu. Prime doesn’t count because it sucks balls. (Only paying Netflix when next Stranger Things and Squid Game is released). Curious to see what the average Lemmer/Lemming (what do we call ourselves?) has?

I like to support the creators I watch and prefer not to let random apps access my very important google profile.

Support them by buying merch. one merch purchase is more than you will owe them based on views per multiple deep dives from the creators themselves.

YouTube having your Google profile is much more problematic than an open source bypass.

But by all means feeling high on the horse can feel better than actually owning one.

Already do.
But I am not made of money amd what I have is already enough.

Lol you can make one merch purchase a month with your YouTube subscription. IDC what you do and not trying to convince you just calling out that your logic is flawed.

Never said my logic is applicable to everyone.
Sure, I can buy another useless gadget or piece of clothing every 3-4 months instead of yt prem and sure I can just emulate all features with vanced (or whatever the new hot app is) and sure I pay Google a good hefty amount of cash for things that are already free.

My logic essentially is:
I can use 1st party apps without much hacking around trying to sideload apks on my Chromecast AndroidTV
I don't have the ads
I don't have any ads on any of my devices
No risk of compromise for my google account
I get all the features I need
My consumption of yt is way higher (daily 2-3h) than what I got out of Netflix etc. so it actually is at least somewhat worth it compared to other streaming services. I'd call this my replacement for linear tv.
I sail enough for 2 lives already with a seedbox, usenet, (formerly) tachiyomi so I am fine with paying for at least that.
