Oh, i thought that was introduced with v 0.19? And that is what lemm.ee is running on?
Edit: lemmygrad is also not blocked on lemm.ee btw
I can block communities, I can't block instances AFAIK. If I could, I'd block all of Lemmygrad, and Hexbear too.
If i'm not mistaken you should be able to block instances now i have not had a look at it because lemmy.world is still on v 0.18.
edit: so you have a lot bad experiences with lemmygrad users, yeah? Hmm ok.
I'm just not so cool with dealing with people that justify genocide, y'know? Or glorify the USSR and China, while refusing to acknowledge the horrible abuses that happened--and continue to happen in China--under nominally communist governments. Anarchists--that would be people like me--were historically murdered by communist parties and governents as being 'counter-revolutionary'. I can recognize that the US is a cesspool, but the fact that the US is so often on the wrong moral side doesn't mean that the USSR was or China is on the right moral side; both can be wrongin different ways. Lemmygrad (and Hexbear to a large extent) refuse to recognize that.
Yeah i see. I didn't ask because i wanted to read more political discussions, i am just interested in the pigeon community. It's small but seems nice.
I guess i should have read more through the original topic where lemmy.world admins announced the defederation, they say in there somewhere deep in the comments that they would not refederate. At first i only read that they said they'd be blocking now (then) and not wait for client side blocking to be implemented, so i thought i'd ask.
The instance blocking feature you speak of only blocks communities, it won't block users from the instance, it says this right on the change log for 0.19 on join-lemmy.org
So the deep cultural and behavioral problems with these instance aren't solved by this instance blocking implementation like everyone says, it can't be considered a replacement for defederation or moderation. I really hope that people, especially Admins realize this before making decisions to refederate, otherwise it could end badly.
