How about we stop celebrity worshipping in our politics? Reagan was an actor.
Dolly Parton is not just a random celebrity. She is a legitimate force for good.

Absolutely and fully agreed. She's a phenomenal person and one of the few figures I'm proud of as an American.
That still doesn't mean I'd consider her for president. The role, I'd say, asks for entirely different skill sets.
Maybe, but based on the two options we're going to have in 2024, I'd take Dolly over either of them.
Over the last few decades i have noticed a 100% correlation between a person's dislike of Dolly and them being a shithead.
Anyone who doesn't like her is simply wrong. That is not an opinion just a statement of fact IMO.
By that standard, Mr. Beast should run for president in 10 years.
Edit: Looked into it, that's already his plan. https://www.insider.com/mrbeast-president-mid-40s-2022-9
Argh
Can’t wait for the 2036 matchup of Mr Beast vs. Logan Paul!
If it comes down to that, I think Beast would be a no brainer.
The literal no brain would be JAKE PAUL YEAh he can punch people, but yeah.
Is there an ihadastroke community for lemmy?
I'm sorry but I can't tell what you are trying to say.
Okay, let me diagram the sentence for you.
The
-- would (verb modifier)
be (verb)
JAKE PAUL (noun, subject)
then, as a run-on sentence, and exclamation
Since you don't seem to understand American English as commonly spoken, I'll try to explain. If you've had a stroke recently, I understand.
"The literal no brain" means "the action that would be done by someone who has no brains", as in, very unintelligent or not thinking.
"would be"
"JAKE PAUL YEAh" : to cheer for Jake Paul.
"he can punch people" : in context, someone with no brains would cheer for Jake Paul due to his physical fighting prowess.
Hope that helps.
That does not help
Funny way to explain all that though so I must approve of the effort
I support his plan to enter all voters into a random giveaway.
Sounds a lot like sortition to me.
I also recently learned that Mr. Beast has shady connections that lead back to Russian oligarchs and South African real estate money from the apartheid days
lol okay
I mean, I saw it in a video and did absolutely zero fact checking myself, so your response and the down votes for me aren't exactly unwarranted
Too bad John Prine can't be her vice president.
My children have a stack of free age-approptiate books, and I will whack you with them until you read more about the good that Dolly has done.
Don't worry, kids books are light.
Depends on the kids' book...
I do not recognize that title as anything my children have received from Dolly's Imagination Library.
I thought you meant kids' books in general.
It's unavoidable: politics is a popularity contest, and celebrities are popular...
Also being an actor doesn't automatically mean they're not fit for the role, Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, was an actor.
He was an actor with a degree in politics. It's not like he didn't at least have some knowledge of what was involved.
She’s a saint.
