I always try to use cash for small businesses and always try to use my card for big businesses.

Small businesses above a certain size save money not having to do physical banking.

Yep. I do something similar. All online purchases and bills, credit card. All real life purchases, cash. Credit card then gets paid at the post office using cash. Occasionally I have to use my debit card but limit that to big businesses only.
