Good enough to win a game or two after the group stage sure

[–] Muppy_N2@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

No no, he was great, but didn't realize the throne was empty; whatever the fuck that means.

[–] Sikdawg0@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Well for one, Bellingham chose to go play for a proper club that people actually care about.

Edit: Downvote me all you want, even Pep agrees with what I'm saying and complains about it.

It's empty man! The gate is down!

[–] emre23@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Or Vini

Or Mbappé really, although he is kinda wasting his career farming for the bag

[–] Other-Owl4441@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Even if his local team is a mess, playing for his local team rather than going to RM is wasting his career? Football attitudes are ridiculous.

He is a generational talent and is expected to win continental titles, several ballon d'or. Or at least compete for them. He has wasted 5 good years, and has no more than 5 at top physical form.

If getting paid the money Mbappe is paid is considered wasting your career, then sign me the fuck up to wasting my career

[–] sangueblu03@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

The guy is already worth near a quarter billion, makes 72m per year, will get some sort of signing bonus at the next club he goes to, and is only 24.

He’ll be a billionaire by the time he retires if he plays his cards right.

“Wasted” is crazy - the man’s been milking his career like an absolute genius since day 1.

[–] skyreal@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Because he was already at the club for a few years. It's not the same seeing a player develop than seeing a player have an immediate impact. And Vinicius was pretty hyped too when he arrived in Madrid, until the excitement kinda died down due to his bad finishing, then Hazard (briefly) becoming the new shiny toy.

People are always excited with new, big signings. People are always excited with young, talented signings. People are always excited when a new signing immediately performs, and even more if it's above expectations.

What we're seeing with Bellingham is the addition of all that.

He’ll be a billionaire by the time he retires if he plays his cards right.

Seeing how there are 0 football player billionaires, he has to play a lot of right cards.

Yeah I get that people want him to be more passionate for the sport than cash, but if your passion is anything other than your current job then it makes sense to prioritise the bag

I don't blame him for taking the cash, although I would blame him if he doesn't do anything good with it

[–] Excellent-Archer-238@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think his family will milk him after he retires and will drain his money.

Or he will be depressed if he doesn't come up to expectations (like win at leat 3 CL, another WC, several Ballon d'Or) and waste it all

He's making so much, he can't even really be milked though

[–] panetero@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

When you win the WC at 19 being one of the superstars, you're kind of expected a level of greatness that goes beyond just money.

[–] USA_A-OK@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Fully agree, but the type of 55y/o bald English guy who wear a Grealish shirt around wouldn't

[–] enjoy_your_lunch@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

curious which national sides you rank above them? in terms of squad talent

[–] opdut@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] AceUK@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I mean we would’ve literally won the last Euros if we weren’t being sandbagged by Southgate…

Came down to a crap shoot so you can argue that England can win a Major Trophy. They could have won World Cup too. That game against France was neck and neck.

[–] Chesey_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He only checks notes

Won the treble whilst breaking the premier League scoring record in his first season

[–] Extremiel@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Slacker, why did he not win the world cup?

I presume the poker subroutine is in the next OS patch the programmers will download into him

[–] LarsP@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Haaland has also neglected to bring peace to the Middle East, causing thousands of deaths!

[–] imJouni@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Pretty sure the article is talking about being the star man for madrid/barca.
