A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.

Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

That’s weird. It'll end like Facebook. They are still being called facebook despite being meta

@samokosik Right, but this is dumber. Because Facebook service itself is still Facebook, it's just the company renamed itself to Meta, because its not offering Facebook only anymore. Twitter on the other hand is the service that got renamed. Which has no reason to, it's just making it less memorable and take away the last bit cuteness from the platform.

No. The top company is called meta. The product Facebook is still just Facebook.

I don't know why Musk just didn't do it this way instead, rather than wrecking a globally recognised brand.

Yes but their name is literally based on a failed project.
