Obviously the reason I want to reach out
Apparently not agreeing with specific subjects about sports and transgender athletes is transphobia, despite science backing up the fact that a debate can take place. When feelings and opinions are over facts and debates, you end up with this mod log and the blahaj instance
I’m not going to start the debate again but you’re free to check the comment history, modlog, search studies, and you’ll find out I’m not bullshitting and Ada, v4ld1z and her team is pushing misinformation for the good of transgenders, but still misinformation.
I mean, you're the one who brought up trans women in sports, admitted to not knowing anything about the subject, and then outright stated you didn't care if you're statements caused hurt, so I can see why you copped a (3 day) ban.
Also, your response to someone concerned about CSAM being posted was to say 'I'm sick of people using "think of the kids" to justify strong moderation' (paraphrasing), so you don't seem like someone worth taking seriously.
One last ban to add to my list before I export and go looking for a new home.
What an honor.
What's interesting is the part you paraphrased out, is that they think "nearly no one does that". This is one of those arguments people make when they don't realize how much has been done for them. They clearly don't think it's an issue because they've been protected from it by the moderation they're bitching about. Maybe around a month ago, several official matrix.org channels had members spammed with CSAM. Not to get graphic but literal babies. It hit my account and i only was part of 3 hosting related channels. This simply does not happen on something like messenger (from Facebook) due to their "censorship". It happened here on Lemmy and people made tools to prevent it which they're also bitching about
It's just a reality that there are awful people out there and even one person can send this stuff out to thousands of people with minimal effort unless there's proper tools and moderation. These admins aren't getting burned out just from arguing with people, they're arguing with people who they're protecting from seeing vile shit that the admin has to see. Nearly nobody actually wants a fully unmoderated Lemmy instance. Places like Lemm.ee and seemingly lemmy.zip find that balance.
That's right, then the lemmy specialists came and hated on me. No source were given, except one, which after checking was a study with low sample size which said that there were small, but non zero, inequalities between cis and trans athletes on a couple of sports, when subject to those sports' rules, while there is no clear consensus on if hormonal treatments are required and the minimum level of testosterone, which can be part of a debate
Apart from that, nothing. So clearly, saying there is equality is misinformation, but saying there is might also be with our current knowledge.
I did my own research. There is no consensus, and anyone saying that there is is lying. However, we do know that having male puberty will make definitive changes to the muscular and bones structure and as such create at least a little inequality, which is ground for debates on the subject. That was my starting point on the subject: the debate is valid and isn't transphobia nor misinformation.
The wrong I potentially agree is saying "biological men" as a mean to refer to cisgender men, instead of using the word "cisgender men". I obviously only used this word in a scientifical context to underline the biological aspect, not as a mean of dogwhistle, but of course if people are against me they will jump on the smallest of things to call me out, even though I wouldn't have used this word in another context. Lessons learned, "cisgender" is also used in science now, so let's not give opponents ammo, and I apologise for this.
I will say it again, but if you're hurt by the fact that there can be a debate on equality between cisgender and transgender athletes, then yes, it's your fault and I don't care, because you're not hurt based on hate speech, but you're hurt because someone has different opinions than you. It's not because you're a minority that you should get a lot of exceptions if that is not fair. There can be a debate and silencing it this way is just manipulation. Passing this as transphobia is deceptive.
I strongly believe freedom and transparency should be over security. I have enough of the censoring, auto filtering of messages, manual approvals and believe they do a lot more harm than good. Perfect examples of that is what many governments try to do with the analysis of all of our private messages, phone and computer contents and media... You're just painting me as a weirdo
This is purely based on your emotions and opinions. I did not misinform or act in bad faith.
Jumping in here from the sideline: Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean that it's unreasonable to feel hurt by that opinion. Also that opinion doesn't necessarily mean there is a debate to be had. That opinion can also be transphobic, which would explain both the hurt and the nondiscussion of that idea.
Also I have a hard time following your thoughts here:
A) I am pretty sure you mean safety and not security. Having the ability to post or not to post has very little to do with security and might have something to do with the safety of readers, instance maintainers and most importantly, the victims of the csam.
B) equaling moderation on a community to state sanctioned censorship is always a big red flag. Let communities choose their own rules. No community should be forced to accept every post from everyone. You do not have the given right to post to every community just because you want a big audience. You have the right to make your own community and build your audience.
C) neither moderation nor censorship are relared to the government monitoring your private messages. That is an important topic that should be discussed widely and be called attention to. But it's wildy unrelated.
You also got temporarily banned from lemmy.zip, so it's not only Blahaj
Yea, by v4ld1z - I mean their bio tells you enough as well
Thus the reason I want to reach Demi but they don’t give a fuck
I do give a fuck.
I give a fuck about creating a welcoming safe space on this instance.
I give a fuck that we act with integrity and fairness.
I don't give a fuck that it hurts your feelings to be called out, nor do I have time to respond to emails that are just more justifications of your transphobia.
We issued a temp ban as a warning. Instead you harass my admin team and bad mouth admins from other instances, while continuing to try and justify yourself.
I suggest you find another instance that will accept your behaviour, because its not welcome here.
Probably busy with something else, or agreeing with @v4ld1z@lemmy.zip decision.
If you're unhappy with Lemmy.zip, feel free to change to another instance.
Answering would be more respectful than ignoring. I'm staying away from the instance for now.
My activity on this account should show that this has happened, but it's unfortunate as I enjoyed the instance
Lemmy.zip has got a large influx of newcomers following lemm.ee shutdown announcement https://lemmy.zip/post/40323214
The instance now has 1170 monthly users, there are probably a lot of users wanting to debate admin decisions.
If you want, you can document this decision on !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com , or !modabuse@lemmy.sdf.org
Didn't know those communities, ty for sharing
a bit annoyed that the main one is hosted at db0 but hey it is what it is
