But for real, why is all of this so shitty looking?
Every fascist state I can think of gave (relatively to the states wealth) a lot on paramilitary troops uniform image.
Even mafia or mere street gangs know they have to invest in some style.
USA should try like a foreign-exchange-presidents or something, then after a 6 month semester, boom - ICE gets designers threads, the troops can march, and all the Signal messaging is in Korean.
(Im not sarcastic about the question - why don't the ICE agents need to look "cool" & distinguished? Are they just some sort of in-between militia? Or is that actually all that & I just don't recognise it? They dress like poor students applying for their summer office job.)

Two reasons. One, the fascists are shitty at their jobs. Like, genuinely shitty. The efficiency of fascism in general is nothing but propaganda, but the people in charge are pure, privileged, nowhere-to-fail-but-up, idiots.
Two, they're in a rush. You're absolutely correct - they're an in-between militia. The uniformity will come if they're given time to dig in their position, but right now, they are desperately expanding and solidifying their hold on the nation.
Their power is an illusion. They don't have the training, supplies, or leadership in place to actually control the country by force right now, so they're just throwing whatever they have out there to overwhelm the innocent while they work on dismantling the bureaucracy and redirecting our military and local LEO capabilities toward domestic oppression.
Lemmy needs a new community: Cops or Criminals? Just pictures of thugs in SUVs & you have to guess whether they're a cartel hit squad or ICE.
