Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

In an exclusive interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Trump also outlined a White House renovation he hopes to carry out — which he said he will pay for himself.

I post this to mock the premise of the whole thing, especially the part where he’ll “pay for it himself.” The only thing he pays for is sex, lawyers, and bribes.

[–] Kookie215@lemmy.world 71 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He doesn't even pay his lawyers. I'm willing to bet he's refused to pay a few hookers as well.

It’s amazing how he hit that level of scumbag where the default response is victim blaming, anytime there’s a story about him not paying it always ends up at “are you surprised? That’s what he does.”

That’s still wrong though? I hate how he gets such a free pass

[–] BigBenis@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

He's proven that he can't be reasoned with and is effectively immune from accountability. At this point, casting blame upon him is essentially the same as blaming a natural disaster for the destruction it causes. If you get burned while playing with fire, would it be rational to blame the fire?

I also hate that that's our reality. But I see people arguing that blaming Democrats for dropping the ball gives Trump and the Republican party a free pass to be shitty and this is my dilemma.

I think it's more schadenfreude than victim blaming - that and a dash of Leopards Eating My Face. Those type of comments are usually under such stories as MAGA lawyers lining up to handle his nonsense lawsuits in order to ride his coattails to fame and wealth, only to be abandoned when they fail to get results. Victim blaming would imply they're actually victims instead of grifters stupidly working under another grifter.

I've always gotten, "well yeah, it's smart not to pay, that's why he's a good businessman"

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Funny that they equate “businessman” to “liar, cheat, thief”, yet continue to idolize businessmen like Musk.

[–] Keilik@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

When you have a society that idolizes the richest with little consideration to how they got there, eventually the only qualification or sign of competence required by that society is the size of your bank account.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

The ironic thing is that this time he probably can pay for it, now that he has turned his second presidency into a bribe magnet through the power of Crypto Shitcoins. He won't, but he can.

You think he pays directly for sex?

The glove-bedecked intern leaves it on the bedstand

Who probably is forced to watch and say "good job sir".

[–] WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

That’s the renovation—a sex swing in the Oval Office.

Remember the last thing trump promised that would paid for? Did we get that check from Mexico for the wall yet from your first term, Mr trump?
