No, it’s all Bill Clinton’s fault! Pay no heed to the fact that Bill adopted a ton of conservative economic policies, please
Clinton slashed government spending so much he was the last president to ever run a budget surplus. However, Clinton cut spending when US debt was 50% of US GDP and now debt is 120% of GDP. Even eliminating the entire military budget wouldn't bring a surplus today.
