Yes, so often we see people online saying "Ha ha, let the morons get COVID/measles/bird flu/etc!" They don't stop to think about the risk to everyone else, particularly vulnerable people some of whom can't get vaccinated and rely on herd immunity. In all these years still that lesson doesn't seem to have been learned. I suspect the people saying this are healthy young people who haven't really considered how different from theirs some people's lives are.
Many of them are likely just annoyed and use it as a coping mechanism. It's understandable. I find it easy to believe that when a group of people wants to kill and or deport you, your family members, friends, or even your neighbors. That resentment will build and ultimately people will say they want things to get worse faster so it opens eyes faster and we as a community start fixing the problem sooner. For example it's why I have at times wanted Trump to ignore/piss off the courts more once he already has violated people's rights since only violating some people's rights people are coping with just fine. A good example of something that would harm and possibly kill many people before things were fixed is social security. Many people would say we would be fine with it at this point if social security checks just stopped going out. It's not because we want those people to die. It's because we want an act like that to happen sooner rather than later. It would directly impact the largest majority who supported this administration. So something so blatantly obvious is harder to get blame shifted, and the people who only say to themselves "am I better off now" would have to admit to themselves they are not. Opening the door to possibilities of a rapid change through grander support. The bill of rights has been ignored, the constitution has been ignored, so many believe the only reason they are "playing" that the government is still in function is to ensure they have replaced all the people they need with sycophants so when the mask does eventually shatter, it is to late for anyone to really do anything. All media outlets controlled, all Government entities (including elections), all large corporations, the food, water, energy... All controlled to make it so we can be tamed and drivin like sheep.
In a dictatorship we are all slaves with no rights, people right now are still believing we have rights because the facade.
