Yeah guys you realize that many, probably most Tesla owners bought their cars before Musk fully took off the mask right? Now I know all the lemmies have unlimited cash and would have sold their Tesla at a loss and bought another vehicle, but outside of Lemmy a lot of people are on tight budgets.
I'd be disappointed if family or friends bought Tesla at this point or anytime in the last two'ish years but wanting to "destroy families" and "end careers" is absolutely nuts and is only going to play into the alt-right's hands.
Safe bet that over the next few days some middle of the road suburban mom or dad is going to get accosted and perhaps attacked for driving a Tesla. Then shortly after the alt-right is going to be chatting with suburban parent saying "yeah the left, they're crazy right?"
And guess what? The alt-right will grow by at least 1, and probably more as suburban parent drags their spouse, kids, and parents into the alt-right.
Ate you seriously trying to tell a sad story about imagined poor unfortunate souls that are barely scrapping by on a "tight budget" and drive.
"Maybe some of you have Beluga caviar with every meal, but us working folk can only afford sevruga 3-5 times a week, at best!"
You... don't think that some middle and upper middle class people face tight budgets?
You "seriously" are trying to argue against that?
Beyond which, the Model 3 isn't that expensive compared other new models. But eating a $10,000 loss on a car can be difficult for many people.
Luxury is a choice. I've never owned a "new" car. I could afford new cars eventually, but the reality is the world meant that I was never going to put myself close enough to a potential edge, that the purchase of a nicer car could lead to future discomfort for me or my family.
You really have no idea how out of touch you are. Your next point is, "Getting a gold foil wrap on a cybertruck is an investment! You don't get the full value of that investment on resale... Do you expect me to just take that loss?"
You are tone deaf. You doing see it at all, and that's really the point.
lol. I assure you, the one who's tone deaf here is absolutely you.
Buying a used car comes with various risks and it's easy to end up with a bad deal. If you know what you're doing and you have a bit of luck you can find good deals. But that's not everyone, many people are rightly afraid they could get ripped off or just suffer some bad luck and not have a warranty to bail you out.
And there are plenty of middle and upper middle class people on tight budgets not due to luxury.
Do you realize how many people are bankrupted by medical costs?
Do you realize people get laid off, suffer debilitating injuries, or otherwise take a big hit to their income and finances through little to no fault of their own?
If you were making $125,000 a year five years ago, buying a Model E could make financial sense (save on gas, once solid resale value, longevity, etc.)
Then a few years you lose your job. Selling your tesla at a steep lose in that situation could be a really bad move depending on your position (especially if the care is paid for.)
The amount of examples here is endless.
He's been a shit for a decade. It was 2019 when the pedo sub stuff went down. That's arguably the pnr.
You can always sell your swasticar, don't pretend otherwise.
didnt they also have a swastika in their production site and legit nobody cared around that time? Musks been trolling everybody and himself for ages now.
Anyone who bought a cybertruck knew who they were buying into.
Okay? So a truck that has sold almost nothing?
Are you going to do anything but defend swastikar owners?
If you don't want people pointing out that you're simping for elon with extra steps, stop doing that.
Nah, I'm just pointing out how numbers work.
Hundreds of thousands of Teslas were sold before Musk pulled off the mask. Cybertrucks account for a tiny percent of Teslas.
By all means, boycott Tesla. I sure as hell wouldn't buy one anymore.
And I'm pointing out how time works. If you're a cybertruck owner, you couldn't have bought one before it became obvious what elon was.
Yes. I get that and I agree with you. But now we're missing the context: This discussion started over harassing if not attacking Tesla owners in general. My original point is that many if not most Tesla owners bought their vehicles before Musk took off the mask. It's fine to point out Cybertruck owners as making the decision knowingly, but keep in mind they are like .005 percent of all Tesla owners.
I think you may be underestimating the number of cybertrucks in regions in which a truck is the current preferred medium for male nazi peacocking.
I mean we know their sales numbers: ~39,000
I'm way too lazy to try to figure out how many Teslas are on the road, but they sold 350,000 in the USA in 2022 alone and I think they doubled that in 2023, although by that point the mask was coming off.
I can’t possibly be doing the jerkoff gesture any harder than I’m doing it right now.
Yes, destroy families and end careers. And that’s to START WITH.
“Oh dear, don’t upset the Nazi sympathizers- they might have no choice but to become Nazis.”
Stop.
It's hilarious that you think that you are fighting against the Nazis. Nah, you're just one of their pawns.
Fuck Musk, I hope he gets what he deserves. Fuck Tesla, I would never buy one, not any more. But I'm not going to be an unwitting supporter of their long-term goals.
The alt-right is making obvious plays following well-known playbooks, and you're lapping it up, doing exactly what they want you to do.
Cool. Enjoy doing a little march once a month on a Saturday if the weather is nice, after getting the proper permits of course
And I wish you the worst of luck in your efforts to swell the alt-right's ranks!
Good luck to them on getting to their rally's when their car is a burnt out husk.
Tell me this, because this confuses me. Where are all the Tesla's supposed to go? A junkyard?
Yes or long term storage. For all the way to be collatoral damage, this is close to the benign.
Worrying about the capital investments of consumers when fighting capitalist is missing the entire point.
It's similar to the concerns of needing to continue to support oil companies and their subsidies because people's retirement accounts would suffer.
These are not reasons, they are excuses.
I think the real answer, and what could actually hurt Tesla, is flooding the market with cheap used Teslas. If you don't care about the politics and optics and are looking to buy a Tesla, you might be able to pick up a gently used one at a major discount. This could drive buyers away from show rooms and new cars, which could cripple Tesla.
To be clear, I do not support attacking or harassing Tesla owners. Doing so will only swell the ranks of the alt-right.
This tracks.
Who hurt you?
what in my comment in any way justifies this response? Yes, I'm familiar with how this is used on Reddit.
Do you actually have anything to say or?
