Parenthood, IYKYK (lemmy.world)

ETA: The word is Parenthood, idk what's up with the lemmy.world "illegal picture scanner", but it would reject my upload if it had any words relating to kids, apparently, up to and including "parenthood"

PSA: If you don't know, coin cells are very easy for toddlers to swallow and very deadly in a matter of hours when stomach acid starts breaching it and mixing with the battery chemistry if not promptly treated.

My 11 year old ate a button battery. She threw it up in the X-ray room. We're still paying the emergency room bill.

This is why they are mostly sold with a bitterant outer coating. It should be pretty gross to just hold a recently purchased coil cell battery in your mouth these days.

Haha yes. She was playing with it mindlessly while on the computer. She's always putting stuff in her mouth, like jewelry and coins. And we've always taken that stuff away and told her she's going to swallow it. She may have learned her lesson this time.

Maybe give her fidget toy save to swallow? If not concious fidget, how gonna stop because of lesson?

I think she's been scared out of that habit.
