The kid and I are deciding what toiletries we need to take and are only allowed one 20cm Γ— 20cm ziplock bag each and everything has to be 100ml or less. What!!!! This skin needs a lot of before, during and after treatments if it wants to step outside in the elements.

Is this for plane travel? That’s only the limits for carry on. You can take any size toiletries liquids in your checked baggage.

We're only taking carry on backpacks.

When I did this I used to take a bar of Dove soap for my body and hair, a kid’s toothbrush (smaller) and a mini paste + a small tube of Nivea spf15 lotion. And a small roll on deodorant. Chapstick if you need it, a folding travel brush and a couple of hair ties if your hair is long.

That did well for me. I did find my face would get a bit dry though with the Dove and no separate moisturiser. And the tiny Nivea tube is now discontinued.

These all sound like good ideas.

Can you not buy toiletries there?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why, when I have everything here.

Because then you don't have to carry it. Plus for some reason shopping in new places is more fun. And as a bonus you don't have to deal with power-tripping airport security who make you throw out your stuff even though it is actually compliant so you end up having to buy more anyway.

We can comply with the 100ml each item it's just the amount of tubes we have. Moisturiser, sunscreen, face sunscreen, toothpaste, hand sanitiser and that's the bare minimum I'll need. All the liquids have to be in this little bag. My zip lock bag is 17.5 Γ— 20 so I'm ripping myself off. Must go and find bigger bag.

I complied with everything too. I just had an agent who decided that I could only have things in their original containers and made me throw everything out because I'd transferred things to smaller containers for travel.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 2 months ago

Oh no. So that's what you meant. Luckily everything is in their original tubes.
