Is a release at the Play Store planned?

Yeah, I could install F-Droid for just one app, but I'm not going to :-). I am currently updating the app via the Codeberg Site, but auto-updates would be nicer.

Not really fdroid signs all the apps themself if you download from the play store it's signed by the developer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzpVI4zaso0
