Hey guys had the steam deck for a while also a switch user. Looking for some fps games that have a fun campaign and maybe multiplayer. I’m a big fan of Bioshock and Doom but was not big on eternal for some reason. I am not a huge fan of borderlands I just find theres too many gun options for my taste I used to like call of duty back in like mw3 bo1-4 era but mostly for zombies. So hit me guys and gals what should I get?

Original Title: I want to transition to using Gyro with the right trackpad instead of the stick, but the range of motion is not as wide as the stick. What's your recommended trackpad settings to have more range of motion?

I need many swipes to turn, and the swipe isn't as powerful as I need. Wondering if anyone has a tried and true setting instead....

I opened up my steam deck one day and the controller just wasn’t working I’ve tried everything reset, update, factory reset, but it just won’t work. When I go to the controller option in settings it just says no controllers detected. What do should I do?

OW2 on the deck runs flawlessly, however as soon as i join a match the controls switch to kb+m and there is no switching back and a restart is needed, has anyone had this issue (or is having it?)

Any advice is appreciated thanks!

I recently dual booted my steam deck to also use Windows 11. The first game I decided to try out was Dragon Ball FighterZ, and when I started to use it, the entire game along with the text was a bit blurry. I made sure the resolution was where it should be (1280x800) but I don’t know if there’s a solution for this problem. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hoping for some guidance here. I have Emudeck running, roms installed and working. But for some reason, I'm not able to see any of the new ROMS I uploaded into the roms directory.

Issue1: I copied a new rom into the correct directory, launched EmuDeck on Desktop mode > Rom Manager > Preview > parse > Save to Steam > exit > Return to Gaming Mode > launch Emudeck DE. But I dont see the new game listed.

Issue2: I also installed another Emulator (.so file) for RetroArch. I see the new Emulator listed in EmuDeck but that too is not "seeing" the roms. These ROMs are working, i tested them on OpenEmu.

I tried Quick Reset too...

TL;DR - How can I force EmuDeck to see new ROMS I added if the "usual" way doesnt work?

Or did I botch this / user error?

Hi.

I've been playing Assassin's Creed 2 and it has been running okay, but for some reason now when I try to launch the game, it stays as a black screen after the Ubisoft shit is done. I figured reinstalling would be the easiest option but I'd need the save files backed up since I really don't wanna replay half of the game.

Any idea where I could find them? Or if you know why the black screen happens in the first place?

Thanks.

Is there's a way to skip launcher? --launcher-skip seems not working, trying to skip fallout 4 and borderlands launcer. Thanks in advance

Out of the blue war robots stopped playing sound.. (steamdeck level sounds still worked)

I have manually turned off and on the sound in the game, tried every selection for sound on the steamdeck, uninstalled/reinstalled the game, tried deleting proton files and nothing.

Where should I look/and-or what have I done wrong?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks everyone even if you just flame me.

My friend and I love games like Rocket League, Xenoblade, JRPGS, Monster Hunter, and games like that. Open to all recommendations - we meet up every week for one day, but also could play online as well. Just looking for something new!

Right I know this is a pretty obscure question but I recently dual booted my steam deck to have windows 10 running aswell as steamos, I did this by using a pretty old and slow 500 GB hard drive because I didn't want to format my 2tb ssd to download windows, now I've got everything working I'm just wondering is there any way I can transfer all the windows files through file explorer onto that 2 tb SSD without formatting it and just get rid of the other hard drive and still be able to load windows up through boot manager without having to install it again?

I downloaded it through the Discover app in desktop mode on my Steam Deck.

Right after downloading Heroic Games Launcher I can launch it once but any attempts after the initial launch, it will not launch. The icon appears in the bottom menubar with a loading spinner and then disappears and fails to launch.

I have tried the following with no success:

  • I tried REMOVING app through Discover and selecting to also DELETE SETTINGS AND USER DATA and then reinstall.
  • I also tried CLEARING HEROIC CACHE and RESET HEROIC options under Settings/Advanced in Heroic.

The log file under Settings in Heroic show the following error and warning:

  • ERROR [Gog]: Unable to synQueued playtime, userData not present
  • Warning [Backend]: Failed to register protocol with OS.

Before this version of Heroic I had no issues and was able to install/play EPIC and GOG games installed on my SD Card. Are there more files left behind that aren't removed after deleting the app and clearing cache and reset?

Any help appreciated!

The Lamplighters League will be steam deck verified. I've been waiting for a new game from Harebrained Schemes.

I’m not the most tech savvy and I honestly find the whole rom and emulator space overwhelming. Is there a simple way to do it?

Follow-up on my previous post found here:

The shell swap was mostly a success! I will go through things I noticed/learned as well as issues I had at the end.

For reference, I bought the JSAUX front and back shell. Transparent purple. I also followed their instructions. I am pretty tech savvy as well just to give prior context. Here are some key points I noticed!

  1. The overall kit was very well done. All tools were included, lots of spare screws in case you lost some or stripped any (EASY TO DO BE CAREFUL). The organizer bin was a nice tough to make everything easy.
  2. JSAUX instructions were pretty good overall. They hit all the steps. Although I could see an issue if you were not as experienced with this stuff, it would maybe not be as easy to follow.
  3. Overall, most of the disassembly was pretty straightforward. Some screws stripped a bit, but I got them out. Nothing to complicated overall. Just go slow and be careful.
  4. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN REMOVING THE MAIN MOTHERBOARD AND THE HESTSINK/VAPOR CHAMBER. IT CAN BEND VERY EASILY. Luckily I accidentally only bent it a little bit so it didn't reuin its integrity. Just a small indent on the top. Will monitor my temps.
  5. The screen removal was not as bad as I expected. I used my hair dryer to heat the adhesive. It was a 2000w one so I used the low setting. Really only needed like 30 to 40 seconds slowly moving around the screen edge a few times to get it to loosen. Just go slow with the suction cup. It takes more force to slightly pry up a corner than you expect.
  6. For removing the adhesive, I used my thumb and nail to carefully scrape off the majority of the adhesive. They said to use alcohol to remove the rest. I tried that and acetone (nail polish remover) and I found the acetone worked better. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL. IT WILL TAKE OFF THE BLACK COATING ON THE BACK OF THE SCREEN. More on that later.

Issues I found at the end.

  1. My right trackpad haptics were jot working. I tried doing some calibration but that was not successful. Ended up opening my deck back up to make sure everything was seated right and the trackpad screws were tight. Started working after that.
  2. I said I would touch on screen stuff later. Here we are! My screen has a weird spot on it shown in the picture below. I think I either unknowingly pressed on the back and damaged it, or I may have gotten acetone on it, and it ate some of the backing away. It is really only noticeable when screen is black. I probably need to replace the screen at some point. Shit happens. That is why they warn us about possible risks of damage. Just be very careful handling the screen.

Other than that, it wasn't too bad. I enjoyed doing it. My deck looks so pretty now with the purple! Any questions, let me know!
