Just tried Decky and been loving it. CSS Loader + VibrantDeck make the Deck look like a completely different device. But I'm a bit worried that it might decrease battery life or performance. Is it possible if I’m only changing colors with a static theme on CSS Loader?

I want to buy a refurbished steam deck from Valve, but the one that I want (the 64 gb model) is out of stock. How long would it take (approximately) for the 64 gb model to get restocked?

P.S. I live in Canada, if that’s important.

Just out of curiosity. Ordered a 64GB refurbished model from steam and debating of upgrading the SSD or just use my Samsung SD card.

Anyone here who plays exclusively only from SD card? Maybe also docked? Because I plan to use it sometimes at my TV or would that be an issue?

After lots of reading and cloning my original 256gb internal to a new micron 2tb several times over and having issues where it was stuck on the steam logo and unable to boot into SteamOS, I believe i've figured out what the issue is.

As some others have pointed out its an issue with the GPT (GUID Partition Table) not being placed in the correct location (at the end) of the data in the new drive, where it is expected. Rather, its somewhere in the middle which prevents the deck from successfully understanding how to boot the operating system.

I believe i've figured out how to fix this with some simple commands in Konsole immediately after cloning the original drive.

Goes something like this:

  1. Boot into desktop mode with the new SSD in an enclosure and connected via usb.
  2. Open konsole and perform the actual cloning. In my case (and most peoples), that command is: sudo dd if=/dev/nvme0n1 of=/dev/sda conv=sync status=progress
  3. Upon completing, run sudo fdisk -l /dev/sda
  4. If all is well, all text will be white and it will spit out no errors. HOWEVER IF IT HAS RED ERROR TEXT saying that there is a mismatch in the location/placement/size of the GPT, this is what we need to fix!
  5. Now run sudo fdisk /dev/sda
  6. And now we need to write the new GPT fix. Run (without quotations) the single letter 'w'
  7. If it asks for confirmation type 'y' or 'yes'
  8. You can now exit konsole and proceed to move that new cloned SSD from the enclosure into the steam deck itself.

I think this should solve those pesky boot issues. I hope so, at least. It's worked for me and I wanted to share with any other poor souls trying to figure this out.

Cheers! Lemme know if it worked for you.

Title pretty much, bought and played the game about a year ago and made it all the way to Hades a couple times, but progress was getting so slow and i lost interest. I picked the game back up last week to do runs on my lunch break and just finished my first successful run (91 if anyone cares). Pretty sure I would have never touched the game again if I didn't have this new toy.

I for the life of me can't find a way to get it to run because it just refuses to launch and sends me back to the games steam page.

I don't know how many times I've bought Persona 5 but I want to play it natively on my deck since I haven't been able to make it through

PS4... Persona 5

PS4... Persona 5 Royal thinking I'd make it through

Switch... Persona 5 Royal again thinking I'd make it through

Steam... Do I buy it so I can actually play?

For some reason being on switch I coudln't get into it again but I've gone through 3-4 single player games already and seems like the Steam Deck is perfect for it...

someone talk me out of it

Also my switch is now my kiddos so

How much money do you think Nintendo is losing because of Yuzu? Don't answer that. But let's take a quick journey together.

Nintendo reveals Switch 2. The specs are Steam Deckish. Nintendo also reveals that it has partnered with Valve and will release select games on Steam. Furthermore, you can link your Nintendo account to your steam account, and on these select games, your cloud saves are shared. Notice I didn't say buy it once and have it on both.

Would you believe this? Is it as unbelievable as Nintendo making phone games? If this were a real thing, would you participate and purchase some of these games on Steam? Or is it a mute point because you can Yuzu?

Just came out, seems to be really smooth at 60fps no issues.

Edit: Actually, just ran into an issue where the game no longer recognizes the controller and only the touch screen works, with no way to get controller support back until you close and reopen the game

Very annoying

Edit: Proton Experimental fixed it for me

Has anyone tried yet? I get in and then the controller goes to shit and I have to keep hitting the steam button and selecting a controller layout. 1 out of 15 tries it finally swaps back to controller for me.

Edit- it runs fine for me I just keep losing the controller inputs. Is there a fix

EDIT EDIT: got confirmation that proteon experimental fixed the issue

Seems like it’s not really talked about anymore. And when people post their performance on games like BG3 there seems to be a lot of discrepancy. Can’t help but wonder if it’s helping or hurting some people’s performance having cryo set up

Some games don't offer 16:10 resolutions by default, resulting in black bars when streaming. The common workaround is to manually switch the resolution to 1280x800 or 1920x1200 in nVidia control panel before starting a Moonlight stream. This is tedious.

I've developed a method that will automate changing the screen resolution to a 16:10 ratio when you start streaming via Moonlight, and switch it back to normal when you end the stream.

Part 1:

We need to create a PowerShell function called 'Set-ScreenResolution' that will accept arguments for the vertical resolution, horizontal resolution, and refresh rate.

1 - Open Powershell and type '$Profile' without the quotes. This will give you the location of your PowerShell profile.

Example: C:\Users\dsp_pepsi\Documents\WindowsPowerShell\Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1

2 - Open the .ps1 file you found above in Notepad, and paste the code from this script. Save and close:

Credit: Sachin on StackOverflow -

Part 2:

We need to create some batch files that will invoke this function. A separate batch file is needed for each resolution. I suggest creating 3 of them:

1200.bat - This will set the resolution to 1920x1200 at 60HZ, which is a higher resolution but the same aspect ratio (16:10) of the Steam Deck. This oversamples the image, which helps eliminate aliasing (jaggies) at the cost of some performance. Be aware that some games might not scale up UI elements, making them hard to read at this resolution on a small screen.

800.bat - This will set the resolution to 1280x800 at 60HZ, which is the native resolution of the Steam Deck. Use this for games that don't UI scale, or if your computer struggles to maintain 60FPS at higher resolutions.

native.bat - This will return the resolution to your monitor's native resolution and refresh rate. It will be triggered when the Moonlight stream is terminated.

1 - Create a new folder somewhere to store your batch files.

2 - Create a file called 1200.bat. Edit it with Notepad. Enter the following text. Save and close:

powershell -command "set-screenresolution -width 1920 -height 1200" -freq 60

3 - Create a text file called 800.bat. Edit it with Notepad. Enter the following text. Save and close:

powershell -command "set-screenresolution -width 1280 -height 800" -freq 60

4 - Create a text file called native.bat. Edit it with Notepad. Enter the following text, substituting the resolution and refresh rate for your own monitor. Save and close:

powershell -command "set-screenresolution -width 2560 -height 1440" -freq 170

Part 3:

We need to configure Sunshine to invoke these scripts when starting and ending a game.

1 - In the Sunshine web interface, go to the 'Applications' tab and click 'Edit' next to your game.

2 - In the Command Preparations section, add your 1200.bat or 800.bat location to the 'Do Command', and your native.bat to the 'Undo Command'.

Example: Do Command: D:\Games\Scripts\1200.bat Undo Command: D:\Games\Scripts\native.bat

  1. Check the box 'Elevated' to give it admin privileges, otherwise it won't work.

If all works correctly, your resolution will change when you start the stream, and change back when you end it.

Note: you have to actually end the stream in Moonlight. Turning off the Steam Deck or quitting the app is not sufficient to trigger the exit script.

How do I change the refresh rate for red dead redemption 2 in the actual game settings, using the steam overlay causes quite a noticable input delay.

When I click play the game will show a second or two of it trying to boot up then immediately black screen and then kick me out of the game and close it. I’ve tried looking up what others say you need to make the game run but nothing I try seems to work. Other games start up just fine.

I turned off the device, unplugged it from the power supply, turned off the steam deck, and then plugged it back in, according to the guides, the steam deck should attempt to power on and leave battery storage mode. But it doesn't turn on on its own, and when I turn it on manually, it just goes back to battery storage mode.
