Do you want us to come to your events? Then please help me! I cannot instagram and I want to know when the pro-Palestine protests are going to be. I briefly checked SURJ, JVP, SJP, Indy Liberation Center. I don’t see anything. But that doesn’t mean it’s not there. Help an old man out!

Indianapolis cheapskates:

Now that we have been transported to the elemental plane of darkness and while we wait for the number of human sacrifices necessary to call the sun back from its icy prison, I figured maybe there would be some good deals on suncreen.

Do you know any? I won't blame you if you want to keep your secrets to yourself.

Has anyone heard significant criticism of Indiana's road?

I have. I'm wondering if there's merit to it, or we everyone thinks the roads where they live are bad.

I've driven out west and northwest where the composition of roads is different, loader like concrete, but they might not have temperature swings, use salt, or plow.

Marion County usually has bad roads compared to the suburbs, but that's a whole thing of its own

Thoughts?

Are there any protests/stunts planned in the Indy area related to the recent escalation in Israel/Palestine?

Looking for demands along the lines of immediate ceasefire, restoration of services, protection of civilian BY ALL PARTIES, leveraging US aid to make it happen.

These folks called me while driving home yesterday and while I don’t like unsolicited calls and I don’t plan to donate again (right now) I do support their cause. They say they advocate for holding energy companies accountable for fair energy pricing and polluting the environment. Do they? I assume they do. You can use this form to email your representatives.

I’m open to hear feedback if you have other suggestions on this issue.

If you live in Southeastern Indiana, you need to know about this. They're trying to bulldoze homes and property in order to build a new highway connecting Markland Dam to US 50. If this is successful they're planning on adding a new bridge to Kentucky and they're hoping to make a continuous highway to Canada, so this happens, it will affect the entire state, and the nation.

They say it's for freight purposes, but reports have been found that it will only save truckers from six to fifteen minutes. The proposed routes will also require new lights/signage, will make traffic worse, we will have a new road that will deteriorate away because we don't have enough money to fix our current roads, and with a new highway, we'll get more billboards. It ruins the landscape and will only contribute to the destruction of our environment.

One of the state senators involved with the project is CEO of Maxwell Construction. He wasn't elected, he's taking over because Chip Perfect resigned after one year and endorsed him.

One proposed route would cut a farmer's property in half and require him to drive 30 miles to go around the highway and get to the other side of his farm.

I haven't seen this get any attention beyond the local level, but it's important that people know this is happening in our state. There's a group on Facebook for efforts dedicated to stopping construction and if you're local, there are tons of places you can go to sign petitions.

Indiana’s 3.3 percent July unemployment rate is still near record lows for the state.

Despite that growth and an employment total near record highs for most of the year, more than 30 percent of the state’s working-age population still isn’t working or looking for work.

The state’s information industry — which includes librarians and computer programmers — has posted more significant year-over-year losses each month since 2023 began.
