Last year I pretty much spent 80% of my primogems to get Raiden C2 and Engulfing, and I'm quite happy that I pulled it off. I can now consistently 36* the abyss with her.

I also got a lucky staff of homa at one point and my Hu Tao could be improved even more with her C1. I've read pros and cons, but since it is just a C1, it is much easier to pull off than a C2.

Another constellation that I've been thinking about saving for is Nahida C2, because getting crits on dendro reactions sounds OP.

What other constellations do you think that could be considered for F2P players or low spenders, in order to make the character's team much stronger?

I finished the mondstadt archon quest and got some new characters (xiangling, barbara, noelle) and i guess it's time to change my team a bit. i replaced amber with xiangling because i really liked her from her quest in springvale, but my heart just doesn't let me take aether out of my team. i like his character a lot, his skills and his playstyle are versatile, and besides i kinda got attached to him as a character, with him being the mc and all, and with me getting used to wandering the map with aether. also i think his model design looks really cool and creative with the cape thing, the knee-high boots + baggy pants, the color palette, the earring, etc

so yeah, i guess this is the birth of a new traveler main lol

Seeing some posts asking opinions about current limited map i noticed that quite a lot of players describe new compass that shows you everything on minimap as something good and apparently quality-of-life feature.

Simply put, it's not. It doesn't make signature Genshin exploration loop more comfortable but instead, replaces it with something different...something like ubisoft-style cancer. Not only it makes already easy process of exploration even easier, it changes player's behavior while exploring. Usually, players search chests and puzzles by looking around in the area, look for subtle hints etc. The compass moves your eyes away from beautiful world developers were busy to create and forces you to focus on small circle in a corner of the screen. As a result you remember less of a world since you need to actually look less at it. And the goal changes: instead of "go explore in the wild and find something" to "don't overlook every icon on minimap because we show them all".

Since quite a lot of players see this monumental shift in mechanic as something "good" i fear that developers will listen and make it permanent. Throughout the years they oversimplified a lot of things: battle events were downgraded to glorified dailies, puzzles were downgraded to "put circle thingy into circle hole", characters were censored, dialogs are now made with help of ChatGPT (God, i'm sure of it because how bad dialogs now are), minigames are so easy you don't even need to read the rules. Chests and openworld exploration remain the last pillar that defines Genshin and if developers will remove even this there will be nothing left of the game i started to play in Sept 2020.

The event is just a here for the last few days so it's very likely that at this point a good chunk of the community played it and they are basically done with it.

So now it's a good time to discuss what people thought about it and if it was on par with other past events.

I think the gameplay of the various attraction was fun and none of them really overstayed their welcome

The exploration this year felt a lot better not only because the items you need to collect would appear on the map, but also because after a certain point you get a compass to help you find stuff more easily.

Another thing is that this year the map wasn't made of mostly water like the summer archipelago and so moving around was much more interesting and easy.

Also the puzzles with the hydro eidolons were a lot better than most of last year puzzles and none of them felt annoying like last year ravens statues puzzles

In my opinion the bad part of this event was the story, I think the big problem this year is the same problem that I have with many story quest:

they focus too much on NPCs.

Maybe it's just me but I kinda didn't care for any of the event NPCs, not even idyia, and I kinda wanted to see more of the actual characters

In the last year summer event each new part was focused on one of the playable characters and we got some story/lore about them

this year on the other hand most of the playable characters cast could be replaced by someone else and it wouldn't make much differences.

Kokomi is the biggest offender, while she is one of my favourite characters, for most of the event she was just there and she didn't really serve any purpose until the end where she uses the McGuffin to save the situation.

they could have used any character in her place and the story wouldn't really have changed much.

also this year story didn't really give us much stuff about fontaine and the little things were stuff we kinda already knew

Overall I think the event was fine but it wasn't really on par with past summer events

Recently one of the most controversial topics I see going around is most people comparing the Genshin Impact Stamina system to Star Rail and Star Rail has most elements similar if not the same as Genshin Impact such as UI as its already well optimized by Hoyoverse over the years for all platforms and works.

The change from 180 to 240 is not an upgrade but a necessity similar to the resin change for Genshin at its release. All the similarities between players used to both games psychologically give the feeling of "Bonus stamina"

  • Exploration Gives drops

But what people don't realize is that the systems being similar doesn't mean they're the same, most of this includes people saying Star Rail has "More Stamina (Resin/Trailblaze Power)" than Genshin without realizing the psychological illusion behind it, which is that star rail's drops are again, similar yet different than Genshin's, Genshin provides hundreds of drops in the 1000+ chests around the map.

  • Regional Seperation of resources

Star Rail's Talents are restricted to the Path of characters as well as Lightcone while Genshin has more variety of talent drops with it all being obtainable in regional chests and exploration reward shops/trees (idk how to classify the regional reward trees but they give a lot for simple exploration), players end up with a head start in leveling talents without going for the domains.

  • Artifacts need 4 pieces for a set bonus

One of the things players forget about Star Rail is that off-pieces come with a major compromise to the user's support/damage abilities, which even though the game allows to select reroll pieces, requires 10 relics to reroll to a single one which has random stats (unless the ultra-rare molding resins are used) and even after that, Star Rail has more sub stats than Genshin which makes the RNG harder to achieve willing on-piece relics with perfect stats.

Final thoughts

Genshin and Star Rail are in no way the same game, both have their different play styles and differences in their in-game mechanics, systems and thought processes, comparing the 2 just based on them being made by the same company or coming under the anime-gacha-gaming category isn't a fair comparison.
