I have two screens. One is my laptop with 15.6 inch screen with 1080p resolution and the other is a 27 inch monitor with 2k resolution. I keep changing the game from one screen to other, it doesn't change how much of the map is visible at once. It just gets stretch to the screen size on the bigger monitor but map vision is same. Am I doing something wrong or is this how it is supposed to be?

edit:

This is how the game looks on my bigger screen. If I try entering full screen or press Alt+enter, it just stretches to the screen size

This morning, in the quiet hours before work, the time when my factory hums and grows, I launched a satellite on my 2nd Seablock run. I've liked Seablock, it's a peaceful brain challenge. But this launch wasn't the thrill I expected.

It's time to get a slice of Py.

I just laid down the rocket pad... thing. I know I have a ways to go, but am 60 hours in and had a question, for fun:

I have made it a point to not look up anything. I am darn confident I am doing things inefficiently, slowly and clunky, but I find it satisfying seeing how "good" I am - before I inevitably look up all sorts of things after I beat the game.

Did anyone else play it no-spoilers for the first time around, too? And if so, when/if you watched YouTube vids on efficiency tips, what was your relative level of surprise / "holy crap that is so much better than what I was doing"? Weirdly worded question, but perhaps you get what I mean.

After spending several hours (and a few sheets of scratch paper), I've really only thought of two possible/practical arcosphere balancing setups for SE:

  1. The basic way: using chained folding recipes to have a reusable "catalyst" of spheres to convert any arcosphere into any arcosphere. The downside being you need to figure out the 56 chains to produce every sphere from any possible input. The positive being arguably simplicity.

  2. The linear algebra way: using linear regression to return the outlier arcosphere amounts to the average amount. Positives is there is no chaining, the system will self balance to a certain amount of each type of sphere. Downside is that this is hard(er) to implement.

I only came to the idea of using the second method because I had taken a linear algebra class last semester, I have no idea how someone without a math background could come up with that method. That leaves the "catalyst" solution as the only remotely practical one, I'm curious as to what other people used for their solutions and what Earendel 'intended' when he created the mod. I know there is a circular nature to the arcosphere problem (if you look carefully at the sprites there is a highlighted section on an eighth on the outside edge of each type of arcosphere) but I don't see how this particularly helps with figuring out chaining.

Hey all, quick train question. In every intersection design or blueprint I see online, only chain signals are ever used. I’ve been thinking of creating some custom designs as of late, so should I exclusively use chain signals, or do rail signals have any uses?

Im transitioning to a train base, have coal processing up making coal and coke, I am making Syngas production as I was thinking of using canisters of syngas, and a refueling station, and goal mine. but figured worth a ask here

This is where the science packs from my science production facilities are fed into the laboratory building. Each set of chests is set to maintain a stock of 100 of each type of science pack. Inside the science building are two sections of sushi belt. They have similar combinator and filter-inserter arrangements in order to keep the belt stocked. Just for laughs, I inhibited the keep-fill system and cleared out the supply chests, just to I could see the huge storm of flying multicolored erlenmeyer flasks.

Hi all, I've got like 2 or 3 hundred hours in the game over the course of many years. So my question as the title asks is how do you start your factories? I've always relied in a massive central main bus and kinda started each game with trying to plan out the requirements and huge space for this massive bus. However, I found myself wanting to try new things and struggling to get past my first smelting operation as I'm struck with indecisiveness regarding my normal go to. Just would like some other opinions and recommendations for changing things up and getting past this hurdle I have with every new factory I make.

Trying to start a city block base, not sure how I'm meant to size stuff though really, is it important to be an exact number or is it just any size that looks good enough.

Just decided to boot up the game and it crashed on launch. Then it worked and crashed while I was playing. I don't know if factorio has any logfiles I can send. Curious for some help. This is kinda annoying.

Also, Thank GOD for auto-save

After finishing Krastorio 2 a couple months back (with a horrendous "bot base" that was barely holding together by the end) I've been getting the urge to play Factorio again, and I was thinking of picking up a mod that was kind of like a "next level" in complexity and mechanics, but I don't really know enough to know what fits this description. I would like to have a save that I can play every other evening for a few months or so and that I can really sink my teeth on the progression, do you all have any suggestions?

Currently the biters are consuming the pollution and in the medium to large range but I’m at a point where I don’t have steel to mass produce red ammo and still only have turrets and grenades is there something I’m missing or am I screwed.
