@QTpi @weirdsquid Not even gonna click through from Mastodon to reply to this, I'm just gonna say SHOW US YOUR CURSED SCARF πŸ˜‚

@weirdsquid @Zerlyna We all know you're going to πŸ˜‚

@clockwork_octopus You had me at "gross"! Acrylic does seem to be the consensus it seems, gonna go look up reviews of my locally available ones and see which ones are considered reliable. Thanks!

@khzimmer2 @knitting Thank you! Cotton was my first thought too but I did worry about longevity, might be worth doing some research there and see if it's a solved problem.

Hmm, this baby stuff is a whole new world to me can you tell? πŸ˜†

@Peppycito LOL! This is a nightmarish fever dream, wtf. Apologies for bringing up such a traumatising memory πŸ˜…

@Sarah @knitting Thank you! Checking that out now :)

Baby knitting experts, I need your advice!

A friend of mine is pregnant, and asked if I could possibly do a new version of this old doll someone made for her when she was a baby.

Absolutely, happy to!

Except I have no idea what kind of yarn is both baby-friendly and also will last for 40 years like this one has.

I can probably make up a pattern, but if anyone knows one similar so I don't have to that would also be amazing.

Pointers very welcome, thank you all!

@bananasmug @zaphod You're not alone I totally googled that too πŸ˜…

Pour one out for possibly my oldest cross stitch needle.

RIP.

@kurobita Note how it didn't actually put any of us off though! Totes worth it πŸ˜„

@weirdsquid @Parmesan5581

I completely expected the same from the title, of course in that case the answer would be obvious. Cast on something new, of course! πŸ˜€

@innervisioner @knitting Thanks! It's actually a free pattern called "Double Eyelet Rib Toe-up Socks" by Wendy D. Johnson that seems to have been discontinued since I knitted it the first time!

They do look fairly similar. Only so many different things you can do with basic eyelet lace, I guess πŸ˜€

@utopify_org @ConfusedOrder I do wish we could get the full text, it's weird that comments show up fine but the OP is always just a link. Maybe one day I'll learn enough about how Lemmy works to put in a pull request, but it is not this day!

The perils of public bus knitting.

LOTS of bus travel for me today, so naturally I brought my sock project. Forgot I needed to frog the start of sock two and cast on again though. In public. Uhoh, pressure.

Well it is my pleasure to inform you that this morning I successfully remembered how to do a figure 8 cast on without looking up the instructions, for the first time ever 😎

I guess hardship leads to success, or something.

Off on holiday today! No worries though, I've remembered the most important stuff.

My cunning plan to cast on a new pair of socks last night ran into a bit of trouble.

Still, luckily I don't mind a spot of untangling and if anything, finagling this will reduce my stress levels a bit tonight.

Plus then I get to look forward to actually casting on, yay! πŸ˜…

After 8 years lusting over this pattern, Garden Cat is finally complete!

This was the first pattern I ever really had my eye on when I was just a newbling, and now after restarting it last year, it's done. I'm so happy, and as you can see way too overexcited to iron it properly before posting.

p.s. people on Lemmy this post has two pics attached so let's see how those display (if at all) on your side. Yay science!

Almost forgot to actually post my completed #macrame project from last week, but here we go!

I am very proud of this for a first attempt, especially considering the kit and instructions weren't great.

Definitely want to do a lot more of this, I suspect most of my friends will be getting macrame'd Christmas gifts this year!

24HOCS starting point!

I've decided to work on my full coverage project for #24HoursOfCrossStitch, as this one hasn't had any love for a couple weeks so it'll feel good to get some progress.

Of course, at 2 over 1 on 28ct fabric, 24 hours is often less visible progress than you might think πŸ˜…

The pattern is "Autumn Stories" from Paine Free Crafts, and for reference I'm currently at 25.26% complete!

Good luck to anyone else taking part. I believe in you!

Who's gearing up for 24 Hours of Cross Stitch this weekend?

For once I've actually remembered its happening, so to celebrate maybe I'll actually take part! Not sure I can really manage 24 whole hours but maybe if I make it a long weekend and fudge the numbers slightly πŸ˜…

Only problem is I'm supposed to be #sewing this weekend as well...hmm this is gonna be a busy few days!

Who else is in?

Crochet crop top update!

Last update: https://lemm.ee/post/110769

By popular demand it is *officially* now a #crochet crop top not a tunic. Took a photo just now to commemorate how it looks before blocking, because I have a horrible feeling about this.

The sleeves currently hang a bit weird, pre-blocking, but I remember that happened last time I made this pattern too so not too worried about that. I *am* a bit worried it'll grow uncontrollably and no longer be cropped.

Wish me luck!
