It is. I'm a big fan, but have lost my copy.

That's a great piece. Thanks for sharing.

The fact that most of our signals for extra-terrestrial life are based on life on earth has always made me concerned we'd miss something. This has made me reconsider a little. We would miss life unlike earth's with our approach, but without an analogy like this to draw on, how could we know?

The post you replied to called no actor in this good. That's your own forced dichotomy. To condemn an act does not mean you condone every act taken in response.

I don't think the (very old) CGP Grey video on the topic has been posted yet.

The only elements in this video I know to be out of date are the UK's membership of the EU (*shakes fist), and Barbados is now a republic.

I'm with you, but it's harder for more modern buildings.

The link is behind a paywall, but its a good piece.

That photo is so adorable.
We had 10 over the course of about 5 years, but yeah it got sad saying goodbye all the time. Rats are hugely underrated as housepets. They are super sociable, and smart. When I see snaps like yours I miss having them, but when I read posts like yours I remember why I don't.

It was a while ago now and I'm rubbish with photos anyway, so not sure I can pay the pet tax. If I find anything I'll come back and edit.

About as useful as the 'have you ever or are you planning to participate in a genocide' tickbox on immigration forms.

Although there's a troubling part of me that worries that Nazism has been normalised enough that people would willingly say yes.

Rather than looking it as shifting the blame, could you not see it as another way in which you can make an impact?

We are where we are and we collectively need to reduce our environmental impact. Being conscious of what you eat is one way to do that, if you want to help.

There are more about an order of magnitude more people discussing those functions on the internet then there are practically using them.
