For fantasy buffs, check out Sam Raimi's 'Legend of the Seeker' 2008-2010 series, one of my favorites.

I am watching Almost Human (2013-2014), can't believe I missed this one. I love Karl Urban and he doesn't let me down in this series. JJ Abrams is the producer, each episode has the feel of a movie plot, well done. I can't believe there is only one season of this given all the crap shows they keep renewing.

Can't wait for S02, loved this one.

Oh Murderbot is awesome, love his sarcastic, hating everyone persona. So funny, and the captain is a hot mess with heart, one of my favs.

Same, I keep saying I will get around to watching S02. I didn't quite click with S01, on the fence, but a huge sci-fi nerd. I will have to load it up soon and see if I get hooked.

She was the best, especially when her character turned into a raging drunk. I love this series.

There is drama, backstories and character development, and then there is long-drawn out dramatic dwelling into a character or characters. We started to see this with the love triangle in S02 with Ellie/Dina/Jessie...ZZZzzzzzzzZZZzzzzz. Guaranteed, if this series continues, they will switch up the love interest over and over, much like TWD and much like a soap opera.

Any post-apocalyptic subject matter, tbh. I agree, the TWD zombies were kind of wooden and had little to no progression built in, but still, the over-the-top melodrama existed.

It is so fun to trash them.

Exactly. Unfold the mystery of the infected, their hierarchy, all that is exciting ...and scary. Nope, they, and I am looking at Walking Dead also, always pivot to drawn out character drama, most of which is unnecessary, basically low effort screen writing.
