First off, having been through IVF (unsuccessfully unfortunately) I wish you and your wife the best. I've found people who haven't gone through it tend to minimize the process and it can feel isolating and frustrating. If you want someone to chat about it - dm me on Mastodon (@pezhore@infosec.exchange).

Secondly, I wouldn't look as much at the bodily autonomy but more at the "life begins at inception" / fetal personhood stuff. That's the stuff that significantly impacts IVF and how non-viable eggs/zygotes are handled. Of course bodily autonomy is important for if the process works but complications occur after implantation.

That's why I googled it as a Harris voter. I've read the high level talking points, listened to the podcasts calling out the big bads - but it's like 900 pages. I was hoping for a pdf that would give me some roadmap of the utter shit storm heading my way.

I don't think he'll stumble over anything - if he gets a trifecta, he'll sign whatever the fuck is put in front of him, and this time he won't have establishment Republicans to keep him from completely going off the rails. Instead he'll have Elon in charge of budgeting, RFK Jr doing "medical" stuff, and Bannon pushing fucking insane shit.

The guard rails are down and we're flying off the cliff.

I would have thought there's some law against it, but they were up for over a month without any sign of coming down.

In Missouri opponents to Amendment 3 (which would add abortion rights to the constitution) are plastering billboards with bald faced lies like:

  • It will prevent you from suing any doctors for malpractice
  • It will give gender reassignment surgery to minors
  • It will let children get said surgery without parental consent
  • It will require tax payer funded gender reassignment surgery
  • It will require tax payer funded abortions
  • It will allow abortions for any reason up until the minute of birth (heavily implying it may go after birth)

None of those are in the actual amendment. None. Even the late term abortion shit is only carved out for life of the mother in the amendment.

Holy shit, I haven't thought of Pirpshky Pirpshky in a long time. They were the best!

You'll hear responses like general strikes or large scale protests. I'm cynical, but I have a hard time believing anything can be done aside from voting and hoping it works.

The US is too spread out, patches of humanity too separated to make a general strike work. (what are people in rural Montana going to think when their one grocery store clerk doesn't show up for work?)

Almost half of Americans actually want a coup so that the "right" people will be punished in a righteous fury - they don't give a shit about reality or democracy (or even the hope of democracy).

I'm so fed up and broken down by it all.

Not OP, but I think they're referring to this.

I've read (not sure how true) that it's not necessarily undecided between Harris and Trump - more undecided about even showing up to vote.

I honestly don't know what's worse.

I felt productive and decided to clean literally everything in my coffee station, including doing a long over-due descale and group head flush.

That Basha Bekele is from CxffeeBlack as part of their coffee subscription from December.
