I dont kniow about the podcast, I will try to listem to it. Thank you for the hint!

[–] lgsp@feddit.it 3 points 1 day ago

Actually the ad mentions

  • 56 people can "seat" on the streetcar (and many more could stand if needed)
  • cars are pretty full with an unrealistic occupancy of 2 people per vehiclr

And finally 3 people in a bus occupy less room than 3 cars and consume more or less the same amount of fuel...

[–] lgsp@feddit.it 1 points 2 days ago

Oh right. Another good point!

^ this: people always scared of being assaulted, never for a collision. Numbers speak clearly

How many cars, how much they are driven and how they are driven, depend on urban development.

Urban development -> cars -> pollution

If you want less cars going around, design your cities to allow and incentivize people not to use them. See recent developments in Paris as an example:

https://www.nbcnews.com/science/environment/paris-olympics-city-reduce-air-pollution-rcna153470

The timing of exposure appears crucial, with heightened vulnerability during prenatal development and early childhood when critical neurodevelopmental processes occur.

The research suggests that individuals with genetic predisposition to ASD may be more vulnerable to the harmful effects of air pollution exposure

The implications extend beyond individual health to public policy. How might cities need to adapt their urban planning to protect vulnerable populations? What role could air quality monitoring play in prenatal care?

Actually I don't see why anything would be done to orevent development of autism, when not much was done for all the already known damage that actual urban development cause

I think this is good practice from repair people: my motorbike mechanic would always keep the old parts when replacing them, to show me the status when I was taking the motorbike back. It's a sort of transparency move that I actually appreciate.

And moreover, the old part is still yours, so it makes sense to give it back to you, unless you explicitly say otherwise

You mean they don't repair the plastoc covers?

A few weeks ago, I sent my 1985 Swiss Army Knife back to Victorinox for a broken blade replacement.

It came back today, fully repaired, cleaned, polished, lubricated and in a new box.

Total cost: £10 + return postage.

They sent the knife back with an invoice. I didn't have to pay a penny before the job was done.

A product that's been out of production for almost 40 years, repaired at very little cost by the original manufacturer.

I'm stunned. Happy, impressed, grateful and stunned.

I have at least a couple of victorinox Swiss army knives, I will keep this in mind!

I guess that the same number of cells also dies in the same period!

This is really a big step in my opinion, as language choices can shape opinions, as the article states "a ‘significant step forward’ in recognizing the preventable nature of road collisions."

This is a good point. What conversion kit did you use?

La multa è stata annullata, dai carabinieri stessi. Ecco quanto senso aveva

Honestly Milan is not really bike friendly (even if sloooowly getting better), that's why we need this kind of demonstrations

[–] lgsp@feddit.it 6 points 1 month ago (3 children)

The additional complexity and manteinance needed by ebikes is the major factor that scares me, more than price.

I want to do as little manteinance to my bike as possible, to be able to do it on my own, and ebikes don't look like something that would allow me to do so, at the moment

Yesterday in Milan there was the MilleMilaBici (could be translated with "thousand and thousand bikes") event. It was a beautiful show.

For once the streets were for people, silent, no pollution, no fight for space.

  • esportazione in pdf

Se avete necessità, tenetela sul cellulare. Ovviamente non condivide i dati con nessuno, e tutto è salvato solo in locale di default.

E' anche sicuramente la miglior app open source di questo tipo che abbia mai provato

So this week is the European Mobolity Week. This year the topic is sharing of public space, but in this community it's all about bike commuting!

How is your commute?

Mine is pure urban area (Milan, Italy), 12 km, some 50% on cycle lanes/path, the rest in the traffic.

This internet ad states "on a 65 year journey, together. It's time to celebrate" and the added line states "with a deceive"

The same ad below shows the real proportion of the 2 cars

For a period of three hours, it featured no loud noises nor rapid flashing lights so that people living with a variety of mental well-being disabilities, such as anxiety, could also enjoy the event.

I see this as a very welcome thing for this community!

I think the developers of this satirical game could be subscribed to this community:

The car industry has identified a few places on earth that do not know THE FREEDOM OF CAR DEPENDENCY.

So they hired you to increase car sales and oil consumption.

How? By building the greatest car parks ever!

Turn neighborhoods into car parks, create the need for car commuting and parking. Use propaganda to inform people on why they need it.

Learn to become a real tycoon.. Asphalt means freedom, right?

Old style graphics (a la sim city) for a satirical game centered on a mechanic that was excluded by sim city because it would have been boring, as revealed by a developer

The developer mentioned it's being built on Linux, so it will of course have Native Linux support.
