I don't keep track of the 222 member so i don't personally know what he ever done, i just don't simply call people irrelevant just because they don't show up from time to time in the press, because that will render about 85% of the 222 MP irrelevant. He won against the 4 term MP in Julau and successfully defend it mean he did something right, because we all know relying on party and nepotism doesn't mean guaranteed success(Nurul Izzah). His party is new, he's the only person that hold a seat, there's nothing he can do if others just doesn't listen.

On the flip side we have Syed Saddiq, who's been quite loud on everything. Similar case, new party, one of the two who hold a seat, and people call him irrelevant as well and doesn't listen to him.

But you know who's really irrelevant?

He won in 2018 as Independent candidate and again in 2022 as a small party, hardly irrelevant.

If losing some state seat is enough to ask someone to step down, someone is lacking functional braincell.

I'm sorry for you to think that way, i did not force my view to anyone nor force anyone to participate, and that wasn't my point anyway.

They all have the same content, talking about the same topic, posting usually the same article, while c/politics in monyet.cc is not the same content with c/politics in lemmy.world. That missed my point completely.

If duplicate like that can happen and coexists peacefully, i don't see why duplicate like this community can cause 3 different people calling me out for it.

Perhaps using the word "fediverse" doesn't seems justifiable, so let just keep the conversation down to Lemmy alone and reiterate my point.

Yes, the purpose is to make it so anyone using Lemmy App is able to distinguish this community instantly instead of having to rely on the knowledge of an inside joke from Reddit. As i said, some app will not have this problem(like jerboa and in some way, thunder and sync), but for other app(like connect) it will be indistinguishable from any other politic sub from another country, this move is to address that.

As for the Reddit inside joke i mentioned, "Monyet" isn't a term commonly associated with Malaysian. Back in r/malaysia, occasionally someone will ask why they were referred as monyet. The term is only widely used in r/malaysia as far as i can tell. Monyet.cc also doesn't immediately identify which country this instance is from(Malaysia or Indonesia? What is cc?), unlike feddit.uk(UK), aussie.zone(Aussie), lemmy.ca(Canada).

another way to bring up the Politics comm to greater attention (this so-called discoverability) is to actually participate in it.

If by participate you mean 4 post max per person per day limit for a community mostly about posting news and not covering the most important day of politic: election, i don't see any interest in participation happening.

Maybe this community will fall, maybe it will not, i don't know, i don't really mind. My purpose is not to compete with the other community but to add more to Lemmy, i think we both can coexist serving different part of it. Subscribe to both is a better option if your concern is the difference in content.

I've been using lemmy app for quite a while now, and i noticed some app doesn't display the community name as displayed name but instead they show the identifier, so the post will shows up like this:

(true for sync and thunder as well)

The search result:

in a glance, which politic community is for what country?

This wouldn't be a problem when your home instance is monyet.cc and you understand who this instance is for, but the problem comes out when there's like a handful of community with the same name but from different instance, all without clear identity and without clue at first glance what and who those are for. Our politic community are basically invisible in /All.

From the search result, we can see a lot of country_politics community that clearly identify the country the politics are for, and i think that is the right way to do it, so i create a new politic community addressing that issue and serve the wider fediverse instead of just locally. It also didn't break the rule.

Perhaps in the future those app will address this issue and give people option to turn on community display name, but i wouldn't bet on future that relies on other people, and even then, people can turn off that option and we will be invisible.
