Finland is a capitalist country, like the rest of the Nordics. Social safety nets = socialism/communism is a tired old propaganda meme.

(Yes, I know we're technically a mixed economy like 99,99999% of the rest of the world)

Unfortunate none the less. Finland is great overall, even with the current government.

Demokratia on kansanvaltaa, ei pelkkä prosessi. Lakot ovat myös osa demokratiaa. Suomalaisten äänioikeudet saatiin 1905 yleislakolla, ja sekin oli poliittinen lakko.

Vastakkainasettelun aloitti hallitus itse. Kokoomus ei maininnut vaalien aikana sanaakaan poliittisten lakkojen kieltämisestä, saikkupäivän palkattomuudesta. Persut puolestaan sanoivat, ettei lakko-oikeuksia rajoiteta. Hyvin meni tämäkin.

Hallitus ei pelkästään aloittanut vastakkainasettelua, vaan jatkaa ja pahentaa sitä. Riikka Purran mielestä vakavat työelämään vaikuttavat asiat ovat selvästikin vain iso vitsi. Ei kai hän muuten olisi tästä vitsaillut twitterissä vielä viime kuussa, vai mitä sanot?

Eipä vissiin. Asioita vaan tapahtuu ympärillä huvin vuoksi. Hallitus syyttää työntekijöitä ja liittoja, eikä suostu katsomaan peiliin. Kaikki tämä, ja samaan aikaan jauhaa kansan mandaatista.

Keyboard centricity is a bonus to me. I don't like having visible UI elements that don't do anything for me (docks, task bars). I also dislike the trend of programs not closing when I close them (system trays).

In addition to these things, I value a degree of minimalism, and I'm a heavy user of virtual desktops.

I don't need to cope with any of these potential downsides, as they're not downsides to me in the first place. All of this said, the KDE community seems a lot more welcoming. I tend to suggest KDE Plasma for any people trying out Linux.
