"A new eye-opening report (that we are not going to link, or even give you a title of, because trust us bro) has revealed something surprising about our social media platforms

How many military orphanages, military preschools and military press tents are they planning to strike this time? Are military supermarkets, military food banks and military temples also on the target list, or not this time?

This one is surely the last straw, right? This is when Israel starts facing consequences for their war crimes, right? Right?!

Oh, wrong? Put it on the pile of war crimes over there then, right next to the pile of money from Uncle Sam they got to perpetrate even more crimes...

Is there really no other word apart from SLAM that those "journalists" (or perhaps AI bots) are taught to use? Just one other goddamned word? I'm so tired of everyone and their mother slamming everyone else all the time...

And I bet at least one of them had a Hamas command center hidden in his back pocket too!

Really cute, and they were really cheap to boot! Here's the other one:

Thanks, here's hoping! I love it as a phone, but I suspect it might be another app showing the icon - there should be no way for a disabled app to do so...

Anyway, I'll keep casually digging, maybe start disabling apps one by one to see which one is the culprit or something :)

Factory reset is out of the question - I spent way too much time installing and setting everything up after changing phones to nuke it all (because Google sucks and doesn't allow backing all the settings and such without root, but that's a rant for another day).

I did reboot the phone, yes, multiple times - after turning calendar notifications off, disabling the app and so on. No dice, the icon keeps coming back. Oh well, guess I'll have to get used to it - it's a distracting eyesore, but the phone is working fine. Maybe it fixes itself after the update to Android 15...

Thanks a bunch for all the suggestions and willingness to help - appreciate it!

That didn't work unfortunately - my Google calendar is actually completely empty, no tasks, notifications or anything. Cleared app data, even tried force stopping and disabling the app completely (can't fully uninstall it, since it's system), but the darn icon is still there. Maybe I just need to learn to live with it, even though it annoys me...

That's a great find, thanks! The problem is, I don't actually have any tasks scheduled right now, and the icon never disappears. Disabling calendar notifications completely doesn't hide it either, I even tried disabling the calendar app completely, and still nothing...

Edit: I found the culprit! It is an app I've been using for years called "Notification Toggle" that has sadly been abandoned, and that seems to have a bug on Android 14 where it's icon will be stuck at 1 instead of showing the current date. I completely forgot it even had this function, because it was a default on all my phones for a looooooing time without me ever opening it or fiddling with the settings. Sad to see it abandoned, with no hope of getting this bug fixed, but what can I do...

I switched phones recently, and am very satisfied with my Xperia, but there's this one useless icon in the taskbar that annoys me a bit and that is like to hide, but I can't identify it, could someone help?

I tried SystemUI tuner, but it doesn't list it as one you can blacklist in the list of toggles, and I don't know how to find it's key to add it as a custom one. Tried turning off calendar notifications, but that's not it - it still shows. Does anyone know what it is and how to hide it? It's a minor annoyance to be sure, but it's completely useless, and I'd like it gone if possible. Thanks in advance for any help!

This clickbait title will make you (or at least me) not want to click the link because it sounds like a shitty ad!💥🔥🍄

A step in the right direction, but not nearly good enough. They should be paid for all the time they are required to follow instructions by their employer - basically from the second they leave the locker room in their uniform, right until they dress back into their private clothes after finishing work.

That's how it worked when I was working in automotive industry way back when (the clock in/clock out terminal was right next to the locker room door), and that's how it should work for flight attendants, pilots and everyone else too. Everything else is labor theft IMHO.

I made a live wallpaper using an Android app called Magic Fluids (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magicfluids) that is fully black, but creates a flame effect every time I tap the screen or slide my finger across it. Yeah, edgy and tacky AF, but it really is a pretty cool effect and I've been using it for years, so whatever.

The one on the left, with beautiful curved spines, is Gymnocalycium saglionis, and the other one, with white hair around spines is Pyrrhocactus floccosus, a pretty rare one (at least in Japan). Hope they like their new home!

They were all so purdy that I couldn't help myself. Surprisingly affordable too, even the bigger ones, which is always nice.

I posted about my grafted bois before here (I wish there was a way to share instance-agnostic links, maybe some day...), but I have an update - one of them decided recently that having another cactus forcibly implanted on top of it is not nearly enough, and he started sprouting all over the place! What a little overachiever, eh?

The first pic is unedited, and here's the version I played with a bit, what do you think, is it too much?

Here's a few more, should be clear by looking at them, but unedited version first, edited one after:

I think I might have gone overboard with the Aztekiums (first pic), but other ones look kinda nice to me. Still a lot to learn though, one day I might be able to show how pretty these are in real life!

The one with dark, shiny leaves is Alocasia Cuprea, and the one with pretty stems is Alocasia Zebrina. I do hope they like their new home - had a bit of mixed luck with Alocasias in the past...

New flowers keep opening almost every hour - glad at least these bois seem to be loving the scorching Tokyo weather, because I sure as hell am not :)

Aaaaaanyway, here's more:

This pic is of a big boy that looks a bit like a lophophora underneath the flower, and here's one of an amazing grafted ball of fun I got last year (rootstock is slightly sun bleached, but quite healthy otherwise):

Gymno-Bloom2.jpg

Looking forward to more and bigger flowers soon!

Edit: one of my gymno triplets also started to bloom some time between 3 hours ago and now! I was hoping all flowers would open up together, but it's still pretty :)
