New toy day! A shame it comes completely dead in the box so you can't even turn it on until it charges for ages. Probably the first product I've ever got which didn't have some charge in it.

I recommended to the boss on Tuesday that we should get an Apple Watch to test because our customers will likely have them and use them with our managed Apple devices, so we need to be able to see what managed data is available to them and test policies applicable to their use.

2 have been ordered and arrive tomorrow :D

New toyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. That's a MacBook Pro, iPad Air, iPhone and now Apple Watch. I'm collecting Apple products like Pokemans.

It sounds like a fine gesture, others have accurately spoken about what the platform is (corporate facebook).

I killed my LinkedIn years ago because it seemed to just be a place for people to be fake and virtue signal all day to self-promote and I can't STAND that nonsense.

But I'd just think of it as them wanting to post a news article to the corporate world about how cool he is. Nothing to stress about.

I've been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 a lot. It's my first playthrough, but 3rd time attempting to get into this game.. it's actually sticking this time though and I'm 35% through now. Enjoying it. It's crazy how many hours I've put in and it says I'm only 35% this game is hooooge.

Anyway the game is absolutely GORGEOUS. Playing on my PC with the graphics almost maxed out and riding around has made me desperately miss America's parks and mountains. I ache to go back there. I don't think we have anything in Australia which directly compares to that place, as unpatriotic as that sounds.

Also I found out that my tablet runs RDR2 fantastically (it's a stupidly expensive one with it's own discreet graphics card) so I can actually play it in bed too. It's not as gorgeous on that as on my 4k monitor with HDR but it still looks and plays great using my PS5 controller.

That's good stuff. My usual purchase would be peanut x 1 and crispy x 1 and mix them together. Have to be in a specific mood to enjoy normal ones otherwise I'd get mixed.

Normal, peanut, crispy, mixed or one of the bullshit limited edition flavours?

(note, there are a couple of good bullshit limited edition flavours but not out at the moment or haven't made it to Australia yet such as dark chocolate raspberry)

A couple of their breakfast things were passable but by no means 'good'. Shakes were decent though RIP.

Was watching NRL but that's finished now (GO STORM) and was thinking I might fire up Red Dead Redemption 2 because I'm trying again to get into the game

I just dreamt about the end of the world. It was really cinematic and had a cast of characters, none of them me but at times I was each of the characters. It had a series of time jumps and stories playing out about their lives before the finale which was in the future where there were millions of satellites in the night's sky. They were all different colours and shapes and clusters and zipped by closer than felt comfortable. Then they'd found a way to project a reflection of the earth in the sky so you could see all of the countries, and did a presentation on them which felt like a "thank you for your time here on earth, humans" where they showcased humanity over the years from every walk of life. It was all very impressive but it also felt very β€œbig corporation” which felt fitting for where we’re headed.

Then during a random moment of conversation with one of the aged characters, one of the only remaining original ones who hadn't died off, the waves came. The first was large enough to know it was about to be the end. Then right after it the character was floating and could see the second world ender coming, gasped and then lights out and I woke up.

I haven't even talked about the story of her life or her late husband's life which was its own thing. There was sadness, redemption, fame, failure, regret and wrestling. And randomly, a pool of hippos which was under their huge warehouse where they lived. You could get to it from under their bed. Weird.

Anyway I just kinda wanted to journal this because it was kind of epic. It even had side characters who felt like they had their own journies over the time jumps, or had their own troubles which were suddenly gone and seemed trivial but also not trivial at the time, but were just the past after the time jumps and those characters had passed.

God damn it.. I'm actually liking using the iPhone. This is unacceptable.

Turns out they've come a long way in the 11 years since I used one. Face ID for auth inside apps (not just for unlocking the phone) is a game changer. Plus app devs have clearly put just a little more love into iOS apps then their Android counterparts. It's nothing major, just little things but they're noticeable. I also love the haptics. The screen and sound seem better too.

My 2 annoyances so far are that it's a regular iPhone 15 which feels a bit small in my bear-paw and I fumble with it and CarPlay (which does look excellent in my car) doesn't have the ability to have media controls on the screen at the same time as full screen Waze like Android Auto does. Having both on the screen at the same time uses way too much screen to show the media controls but that might because my screen is portrait rather than landscape. Probably looks fine in landscape on those wide screens you get in new cars.

Anyway ffs I wasn't supposed to almost prefer it over my Android phone.
