Has anybody read up on dictatorships in general? If we are fortunate we'll endure a 30-50 year autocratic government headed by Trump monarchs and then a ten year period of juntas and civil wars and then finally piss weak liberal democracy again for a bit.
araneae
You got what you wanted and skullfucked our country. You can stop putting words into peoples mouths. Above user did not defend the democratic party, they pointed out the party swap and pre-Southern Strategy party makeup. Give it a rest with this shit. No democrat will ever actually be elected ever again, more than likely.
hordes
Go fuck yourself
Sincerely, a member of the "Holy Western Imperial Horde" (the US)
You really come off as a massive fucking twat to all of us who are trapped in the US and have no where to go. Like we enjoy fascism. And voting to save ourselves is just a stupid waste of time. So we should just rot in place and accept it instead of casting a smelly vote for a democrat. Whats four more years of stability if my life doesn't match your academic philosophy? Actually fuck you. Enjoy being Not American so you can crudely point and laugh. You're a myopic piece of shit.
As if Trump would be good for Mexico either. Jesus Christ.
The scariest thing about Nazis is that they're human and even pretty smart sometimes. To reiterate what others are saying: dehumanization leaves you in a blind spot for the humans around you who can silently undergo vast transformations from people you thought you loved into Nazis. They throw away their humanity yes, but they had to be human to throw it away. Dehumanization is also how the process of becoming a Nazi starts. Don't even mirror it in jest, try on radical empathy and face the truth: humans are horrifically complex. Nazis are unfortunately humans.
Berlin was the capital of the leading Axis power. Palestine is an apartheid state. Fucks your point.
Alienating and othering people... makes you no better than a Nazi. Because when your opponent has no face and you've already decided their deaths are acceptable to you, other opponents will follow. You'll make a habit of hating and being directed to hate like you already have calling humans "orcs". Tomorrow it'll be Iranians or Mexicans or Koreans. You're not above it.
Holy fuck. I'm taken aback. I have no cogent response to your lack of human consideration for the people of Palestine other than to tell you to go fuck yourself and I hope you never have to experience something like what they're going through. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind you callous fuckwhit.
Bet you call Russians orcs too. Jesus.
Hey I feel and agree with you about a lot here but wtf
Supposedly all to make a statement about Gaza's importance, something a lot of Americans actually don't agree with simply because Gazans are not very easy to sympathize with. And that's not only because of racism.
How is this any way to talk about... anyone? I don't need them to be easy to sympathize with, they are automatically entitled to it. Cuz they're dying. Lets be real clear. Our governments involvement with Israel is fucking awful and Americans have blood on our hands. We can agree or disagree about our own politics but don't let animosity get the better of you. We are brutalizing innocent people. You and I owe them dignity even if our lifestyles aren't compatible with theirs or whatever.
Yeah this os Facebook grandma stuff. What the hell.
I really feel like you're forgetting this
I think the guy's heart is in the right place though, I think he just hasn't done the legwork yet on studying how modern socialist states are moving on lgbt issues and why they're doing so.
is how you defend that above screenshot people are pointed out. I don't understand how you can't see the contradiction implicit. A person's heart can't be in the right place if they say things like what was said in the original comment. It occurs to me on reread maybe I don't understand it? It's a bit ambiguously worded. But it has popped up before in these conversations and its cited whenever l.ml users reach out to the other big gay instances.
We should accept each other not based on "how modern socialist states are moving". That phrase "doing the leg work" is doing a lot of leg work being nonspecific about what someone is actually learning and internalizing.
Its just uncomfortable to be in a supposedly welcoming space where allyship arises from first principles and not from real empathy. Its not a college class you can study for.
For the record I was hardly blaming you; in fact I was sort of building on your point. People who nonvoted or voted Trump or third party will spend the rest of their lives experiencing fascism and civil strife like they've read about in history. We are done hypothesizing. There are two months before America becomes really really whacky. I hope supposed left leaning people remember where they were and how they felt when they chose ABSOLUTELY FUCKING WRONG LMAO
