Sort of. I started with a blank. So something that has the general outline of a spoon.

Dude sharpening is so hard. I have a ton of knives and chisels and all kinds of tools for sharpening and I still suck at it. I think it just takes a shit ton of practice or maybe I need to have some one show me live because I also struggle with getting and keeping a good edge and it makes such a big difference.

Also I hear ya on the nose thing. I think it’s one of those first finer details that makes such an huge difference when it looks good/bad. I’ve fucked up many a wizard nose but it’s honestly kind of fun if u can pull it off and fix it after u mistakenly fuck it up lol

What paint do u use? I have a bunch of basswood figures I made and haven’t painted any yet

Hell yea. This looks pretty sweet for a first project.

I also started with a linker video. He makes everything look so easy. Try the wizard next. That was my first thing we’re I was like wow this is actually a recognizable item.

Awesome video by Doug linker on how to make custom blade covers. Probably going to be my next smaller project as right now I have styrofoam on a bunch of nice fixed blades. Pretty janky and not very safe.

Will report back on how it works out

Also Doug Linker is awesome and his vids are great for beginners

Where do you guys source your wood from? (sh.itjust.works)
 

I live in a big city and can’t exactly snap a branch of a random tree or real pick up random sticks from people’s backyards without getting some looks.

I’ve ordered off Amazon and Etsy in the past for basswood and walnut that was not bad.

Im just curious where other people get resources?

No time better to pick it back up then the present. Glad you liked the spoon. It’s one of my more recent pieces and a little more polished than previous iterations.

I will admit, I did take inspiration from someone else’s posts. I’m not artistic enough to make things from scratch so I usually look at what other people make, try and imitate, and maybe add some small personal flair if I can.

I have bought a shit ton of random knives (Helvie, drake, GEC, flexcut, morakniv etc) based on recos from subreddits and youtube videos and I have to say despite how cool they are, I think my favorite go tos are a Victorinox tinker that I redid the edge on and a Remington whittler I bought on eBay because the price was right.

I’m going to keep posting random shit I’ve made until we gain some momentum. Feed back welcome. I’m not very good at this and mostly just imitate other things I see online while working on technique.

What’s the idea?

Stuck loading when logging in on safari mobile? (sh.itjust.works)
 

I have been accessing the instance using Firefox and it’s been working great but I wanted to try to log in with safari because that’s the only mobile browser where I can add a website to my Home Screen.

I enter my login information and hit login and then I get the spinning circle that spins indefinitely.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have 2 community tanks. One has guppies and some random plants.

The other has tetras and some random plants

One has a rabbit snail infestation but I like they way they look som I’m keeping them all

I was part of r/whittling before rexxit and it was my one of my favorite places to browse. I didn’t see anything comparable to that on Lemmy yet so I decided to take a stab at making the first.
