Vancouver West Coast Express EMD F59PH

This shiny locomotive carries commuters in and out of the heart of #Vancouver every weekday. It has 5 inbound trips in the morning and 5 outbound in the evening, past Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge to as far out as Mission, #BritishColumbia. It's quite fast compared to rush hour driving, and the views of the Fraser River are a treat. I just wish it went the non-rush directions at least a couple times a day.

Any model railroad enthusiast want to expand their 1:1 scale collection?

#Caltrain will be auctioning their diesel EMD F40PH-2 in the next month or two, with the engine removed. These engines were replaced by the new electric locos. Transport and storage will be buyer's responsibility.

Some transit vehicles on "The T" in Boston recently received googly eyes, spurred on by a local campaign.

It's time to determine which of the three #rail #transit lines serving this area of downtown #Seattle is worthy of being the Champion of Westlake Center.

See the following thread for the contenders and the vote. If your platform doesn't support polls, you can reply to me here.

Montreal Locomotive Works Class H1b - No. 2816 "The Empress"

Happy #Canada Day!

I was in #Calgary #Alberta in April
to see this beautifully restored steam locomotive. It was a public event at Canadian Pacific Headquarters in commemoration of 1 year since their merger with Kansas City Southern.

This #train has since been on tour and will do one last stop in #Winnipeg on July 6th, 2024.

Calgary C-Train at City Hall/BVC station

Calgary's transit downtown is reasonably decent, even if I would wish for more train lines going more places. They also have decently fast and frequent buses. The roadways are very wide and many one way, so it feels a little more hostile toward biking and walking compared to other Canadian cities.

Calgary C-Train LRT at Saddletowne Station

Visited #Calgary, #Alberta, #Canada in April and wanted to check out the state of its public transit system.

My very first thought: Would it kill the people of Calgary to make a <5 km Blue Line extension to #YYC? You got so close, and the land in that area is so open and flat. Plus, there is an unfathomable amount of space for parking.

Redhill Platform Zero

(Part 2 of my occasional #Interrail trip series)

Walking from Paddington to #London Victoria Station, from there I went to Redhill. Since it was my first time in London, I was very amazed at how there were many stations the size of #Toronto Union Station.

A goal for some #railfan folks in the UK is to visit every platform zero as they are kind of a novelty. I wasn't looking out for them specifically, but you may see I will encounter one again in a future post.

@zabadoh

This one is interesting. The Abt system is only between two stations on a steep grade and a separate locomotive shunts with the train, not shown here.

The picture is of the beautiful and unique station that is located on top of the bridge.

I've ridden this one, and I would recommend earplugs if you have sensitive ears.

London Paddington Station

I did a cross EU/UK trip in May of 2022. Was taken aback by the sheer size and number of tracks at this station.

First of a series of photos I'll be posting occasionally!
