He is a snake, and an institutional elite. Fuck all of that.

I upvoted you because of the hardcoded pessimism in me, but I think the reality is a bit more complex.

Everyone directly in the Trump family loyalist orbit obviously wants permanent hegemonic control of the Executive branch. However, the bro-ligarchs really want President VC "Vulture Capital" Vance at the helm. From their perspective this has been a Trojan Horse operation the entire time. The Senate leaders want to maintain power, and they are all thinking of their own long term political careers. Who knows what the fucking House GOP wants because it is filled with reality television freaks at this point, so their opinions don't really even matter anymore.

The interests of these different factions may be publicly aligned from a PR perspective, but behind the scenes I can assure you that it is going to be a fucking gladiatorial circus of quietly slitting each others throats in order to maintain power for many different diametrically opposed groups that owe fealty to their own wealthy benefactors.

If we learned anything from the first four years of Donald Trump it is that he has a short fuse, a tremendous inability to rally long term support from even the most sycophantic cucks in his orbit, and that eventually the shit starts seeping out from behind the drywall whether they want it to or not. All will not be well in the kingdom of fools for long....

I understand the sentiment, but it will never happen. Killing "Whites", especially whites named "Jack Smith" is bad for optics. Now Letitia James and Fani Willis is another story entirely. If I was either one of them I'd be getting my ass on a plane to someplace with a non-extradition treaty post haste.

"COMMUNIST MARXIST FASCISTS" are our preferred pronouns according to Shitler.

Thune is at least a proponent of NATO, and supporter of Ukraine in so far as it repels Russian aggression in the region. So at least we know the mandate in the Senate for the moment.

I wouldn't go anywhere near saying he was a good choice, but he was the least bad choice of the three options by a country fucking mile.

Same. Le sigh 😕

This has been my thought lately as well. Donald Trump is simply a convenient means to an end. He is so ignorant and narcissistic that he will never see it coming when he is eventually given the Julius Caesar treatment by the techno-fascists.

The real oligarchy that is actually wealthy instead of pretend wealthy is chomping at the bit to get in the big chair permanently. Now that there is ample precedent with multiple assassination attempts on Donald Trump's life, all they need to do is have him assassinated for real, declare martial law as you said, and then install their chosen dictator as the public lever puller.

They can blame this on whatever patsy is most convenient to allow them to swiftly tighten controls on an unsuspecting public. The ironic part being that in a twisted turn of fate, we may eventually end up in a situation where some of the people who got deported turn out to be the lucky ones. As Aimé Césaire warned, fascism is colonialism turned inwards, and whatnot...

So are we going with Lem-stralia, Lem-Rok Nor, or Lem-giers as our colony name?

If they have a point it’s because they manufactured it.

I'm not sure I entirely follow where you are going with this. My assumption is that you mean by them supporting the path of least resistance to the potential downfall and assumed reorientation of the economic/political system that the only points they have are a result of self-fulfilling prophecy. In which case, I guess I kind of agree because this is somewhat the same from a conceptual standpoint as the Evangelicals who think that every bad thing that happens is a sign of ushering in the rapture and therefore them getting their duty free pass to heaven. The accelerationists obviously have a more cogent point I would argue since it is based around a materialist philosophy at its core, but I generally agree that it is still misguided none the less...

Personally I’m too stubborn to just roll over and give up. That’s what they want. Don’t give them that satisfaction.

Yeah, I hear ya. I try to keep that stoic mentality that the mission hasn't changed just because the circumstances have. It is just annoying to always feel like you can so clearly see the issues coming from a million miles away, and yet with all of the advancements we have made society still manages to hit the iceberg anyway.

Get involved at the local and state levels. Those are our easiest avenues to affect change going forward.

My personal life has evolved over the last year in a way that this has actually become possible, so I have been intellectualizing on how to actually do this effectively now that the proverbial other shoe has dropped this week. I am heavily considering how I can utilize my voice & my life path in a way that is politically expedient and does some real material good in the world that's for fuck sure.

And over the next 4 years hope a halfway decent candidate that puts the people and worker protections at the top of their list of issues to run on and support the hell out of them. Or if you’re eligible, run yourself. I’d happily support an average citizen running for their peers.

One can only hope that through the madness it becomes a centralizing force that perhaps effectuates the rising of a new breed of stronger, more voracious, and aggressive leftist candidates who leave behind the PC culture virtue signaling communication strategies in favor of something more akin to Bernie Sanders & Noam Chomsky mixed with Eminem & Immortal Technique. Until the left is willing to shake up the cultural hegemony of institutionalist thinking in favor of some more militant rhetoric we are going to continue getting curb stomped in the information war. It is time to lose the civility, put on the fucking plate carrier, and treat these right wing hack commentators with maximum intellectual disrespect in my view.

I am convinced at this point that the country would have been infinitely better off in the long-term if Biden had lost in 2020.

The clown show incompetence of the OG Trump administration would have continued, Roe would have been overturned on Trump's watch, and people would have been getting seriously dry fucked in the ass with a sand paper condom on by the economy right now.

We would have seen extreme rage at Donald Trump in a way that would have broken the illusion for a lot more of the mentally deficient people in the country, and it probably would have led to him being legitimately tried and convicted.

But like usual the Democrats manage to get it together just enough to eek out a useless victory that somehow manages to fuck shit up even worse later, and teach the institutionalist fucktards the exact wrong lessons. Given the existing timeline we are in now it really makes you wonder if the accelerationists have a point or not...

The goal needs to be a total social and economic embargo. Completely exclude them from our lives in any way possible. We are now in an existential war for the future of liberal society. Let's hope it stays mostly ideological, but I'm not holding my breath.

Dog Walk:

(verb)
When you’re beating someone’s ass and you’re dragging them as if you were walking a dog.

“Ima dog walk yo ass if you keep talkin shit!”

“He got dog walked in that ~~fight~~ DEBATE last night.”

Greetings fellow Lemmings,

I know this is a community that has a strong backbone in the Software and Technology space. I am a returning student in my mid-30's that is returning to college as a way to pursue a career change. I am looking to crowdsource opinions from experienced tech professionals so I can make good quality, informed decisions about how I move forward with my educational and career goals.

With that being said my question is how would you proceed between the programs I have linked below? I am starting at a STEM focused community college (Bellevue College) in the Pacific Northwest. My long term goal is to either transfer to another four year institution (like UW Bothell) grade permitting, or perhaps finish a four year degree from this institution. This is where your advice comes in, and where I believe I need better outside perspective to make a good decision.

Option #1 (Software Development - Application Development Track) This is where I have been leaning because it seems to afford me the largest number of future options with the direction I take my education. Most importantly I think it sets me up in the best position to make the potential transition to the University of Washington Bothell's Computer Science & Software Engineering program. The Application Development track has a stronger focus on C# & .NET framework programming languages, which seems to provide a better foundation for more potential job opportunities at the moment.

Option #2 (Software Development - Artificial Intelligence Track) Artificial Intelligence is obviously the buzzword of the moment. However, I am wondering if I am robbing myself of options by over-specializing this early in the process, and I also have concerns about focusing my learning process so heavily on Python when that seems to be something that is not used as a standard backbone language for more enterprise level businesses. I also don't have any interest in the robotics area of this degree, as I don't see that as being something I would look to pursue in my career. I do want to be conscientious about learning whatever is going to provide me the most future utility, therefore, I am wondering if this is the way to go for that reason.

Link to Program Information

Ultimately, I am open to any and all advice, recommendations, and wisdom that my fellow Lemmings have to provide. My previous background was in a completely unrelated field, but I have always had a passion for technology and I am a quick learner with a lean lifestyle and no external distractions. Completing this process and securing employment will be my focus 100% for the next 3-4 years. With that in mind, tell me what you think.

  • Where should I go with my education?
  • What pitfalls should I avoid?
  • When should I specialize?
  • Am I crazy for doing this later in life?

Hit me with anything you've got Lemmy, it is all appreciated!

Former President Donald Trump must pay writer E. Jean Carroll over $83 million in damages for repeatedly defaming her, a jury found Friday.

The nine-person jury began deliberations in federal court in New York at 1:40 p.m. ET and reached a verdict in just under three hours.
