Thanks to everyone who responded. I did solve this from your suggestions of looking at the keyboard settings (Settings/System/Keyboard). Thanks again. I now have emojis enabled (which I never use, but I like having the option just in case).

Hello. I note that previous versions of the LineageOS Messaging app had support for including emojis. This recent version does not include such an option. The keyboard choices are simply either letters or numbers. Is there a way to once again have this option in the LineageOS Messaging app?

Note, I do not have Google Play Services installed. I rely solely on LineageOS along with some additional f-droid apps (and this is something I have always relied on since I began using LineageOS some years ago, starting with a Nexus 5 -- I now have a Google Pixel 4a running LineageOS 21).

solved: Going to Settings/System/Keyboard allowed me to enable the emoji option.

Yeah, I'm a bit worried that I may have to reinstall if things don't get fixed. But, if so, I do have a backup via Seedvault.

I have a Google Pixel 4a. I have LineageOS on it (codename Sunfish). When I first installed it I got regular updates each week. But now I haven't received one since March 16. Have they stopped releasing these? Do I now have to try and build updates myself?

Okay, I have a Google Pixel 4a with LineageOS (sunfish). I followed the instructions given at this site, and created a Seedvault backup.

I had my phone plugged into my laptop via USB, and transfer of files for USB was enabled; so, the laptop could access the phone's files via MTP. However, this was not seen as an option for where the backup was to be created (IE, it did not give the option to create the backup on the hard drive of the laptop via a file transfer with MTP). So, I created it on the phone.

I have since copied that file to my laptop. Specifically, I copied the backup file which was created, that being .SeedVaultAndroidBackup, to my laptop. My laptop runs Debian Linux.

So, a few questions:

1.) will I be able to restore from the backup file, .SeedVaultAndroidBackup, that exists on my laptop? Or will this not work, given that it wasn't originally created there?

2.) if the answer to (1.) is "yes", then will I be able to delete the backup that was made on my phone?

3.) is there a way to create a backup with Seedvault specifically on my laptop, rather than copying the created backup file afterword? I wonder if there was a setting with USB transfer (MTP) that could be adjusted (IE, making the laptop the focus rather than the phone).

I recently bought a Google Pixel 4a. The link from the title outlines that security updates from Google will soon be ending for the Pixel 4a (though there was a surprise update in November, but no further updates are expected).

Yet, in spite of that, I assume that LineageOS security updates will continue for this phone, since for a variety of other older phones they have continued. But, I wonder, how will this be achieved? Is there information on how LineageOS creates and releases security updates for the devices that it supports?

Thanks. Good to know.

I did hear back from KDE, and they say this bug is being looked at in the Alpine Linux gitlab site: https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/issues/15496

Thank you for your straight forward and very succinct answer. I did peruse that site, but became confused by the various options that I found in it. If you could decipher the information on the site, and provide an actual link to where exactly I report bugs for postmarketOS packages, that would be appreciated.

I'm using postmarketOS plasma edge on my Pinephone Pro. The KDE program Kasts (installed from a postmarketOS package) crashed when I tried to run it, so I filed a bug report with them. They suggested that I file this bug directly with postmarketOS. The rationale was:

These kinds of faults tend to happen when a library that Kasts depends on gets updated without Kasts itself getting recompiled. Then you can end up with an instruction that has changed in the underlying lib without Kasts knowing about this, leading to a crash. So, I would think it's simply a matter of recompiling the package.

I'm not sure where the correct place is to file a bug with postmarketOS. If there is another place where I should do so, then do let me know in the comments below. Thanks.

Here's some facts and tips about repayment plans with the landlord: https://www.acto.ca/production/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/PaymentPlan_Tipsheet_tenants.pdf (taken from this site).

The best thing to do is to pay off the rent and arrears. If it's possible to follow the "rosy" rent plan you put forward, then do it. But, if things don't go well and the landlord begins to pursue eviction, then best to contact a legal clinic: https://www.legalaid.on.ca/legal-clinics/ You may wish to do that anyway.

I'm in Canada, and I bought a Fairphone 2 a few months back. It was shipped overseas from an unofficial dealer, since Fairphone itself no longer deals with the Fairphone 2, and it no longer provides replacement items for the Fairphone 2.

I installed LineageOS on it. It worked great. But recently the battery was showing signs of decay. I looked for a replacement, but nowhere could I find anything. The phone now is just a paperweight.

Granted, it was released almost 8 years ago. But, I think it's a shame that it's no longer supported. I do feel that, if replacements were even more feasible, that this phone of mine could have continued for even longer.

I have a Fairphone 2, and it has a headphone jack. However, newer phones don't seem to include this, since most people now use Earbuds. https://shop.fairphone.com/tws-earbuds

Hunka was invited by Speaker Anthony Rota, who introduced him as a war hero who fought for the First Ukrainian Division.

Rota’s office did not immediately respond to questions.

I expect Rota will not be the Speaker for much longer.

Housing is a complex issue that requires action accross levels of government, but this would seem to shift the onus towards the municipal level, and then handicap said municipality’s ability to meet demand if they do not immediately succeed. [..] if implemented, would be anything but an excuse to cut funding.

Agreed. It just seems to be setting up obstacles rather than helping. Currently, builders prefer to build condos or office towers, rather than rental housing. I don't see these proposals as doing anything other than further frustrating the construction of rental housing.
