Yeah you're right, "atomic" is not the same thing as "immutable", but they are related terms and OP appeared to be using them interchangeably so 🤷‍♀️

I didn't say bricking, I was responding to the bit you wrote about immutability being "a fad".

Yes absolutely, and that's why I don't think commercial ~~social~~ media will die. But I do think it will come to more be associated with activities gambling or vaping.

Not excusing ignorance but it is wild how different the experience of the average man or woman can be just existing in public. It makes sense to me that a man who is largely a basement dweller would have no first hand exposure to that sort of behavior.

Immuteability is what enabled me to finally switch over full time. I don't think a lot of geeks yet realize how huge they are going to be for wider-spread adoption.

idk I've gotten mine into a state i couldnt fix more times than I can count. Immuteable distros have been a game changer for me and if I'm being honest I think they're going to be the biggest thing for mainstream adoption in Linux's entire history.

I'm a little surprised a womens only instance hasn't sprung up yet. It's a situation that would need more specific moderation needs.

I have an aging Kindle and am looking for a new eReader to both read books and articles I've saved throughout the day. I use Wallabag to save articles. I like it over Pocket because it's better for paywalls because it fetches content directly from the browser.

I am leaning Kobo because of apps like Wallabako and KoReader (not exactly what that is yet but people seem to like it).

Anyone else have a similar setup or have any advice?

Note that r/coolguides is a very "normie" subreddit and may require extra handholding. There are a lot of people who don't seem to understand what "open source" means. Some looking for "The Lemmy app" etc. Be patient and helpful!
