I did all the steps as mentionedeven before I read this blog. The issue is when I click on say on the search bar of firefox after enabling virtual keyboard nothing pops. Alteast like on board in x11 or onscreenkeyboard in windows there should be an option to pin the program to taskbar and let the keyboard float but its not there. I dont know what else to do.

Also tbh from an end user perspective they should not tinker this much just to type with their virtual keyboard. It should be there.

I installed it from AUR and tried it in both KDE and gnome. Both gave me same error so Idk may be not related to DEs I guess.

$ squeekboard

TLDR:

Please suggest on screen keyboard like windows for wayland KDE where I only have to use mouse and can type and dont need access to physical keyboard.

Big rant you can skip if you dont want to read

This is a basic accessibility feature and how is it not available yet on any DE. Like come on what do people without access to keyboard do? This is why linux will never be main stream . Always fighting about wayland x11 pipe wire pulse audio systemshit bla bla blah but dont even have the basic io into the DEs .

How can the main DEs both gnome and KDE sucks ass like wtf. Imagine some one with only mouse access need to type. In windows its just there even at lock screen and is available as an application if needed and u can pin it to task bar and just click and type like you dont need to have keyboard to give input.

Imagine a scenario where people with only 2 fingers or only mouse access u are just alienating them cause u dont fking take user input and blabs wayshit xass blah blah fkkkk. Just copy how windows accessiblity works.

Still will use Arch cause fk windows and want to flex on my noob friends ahhhhhhhhhhh

Rant over

The Problem

I tried every keyboard from Arch Wiki but nothing works like the on screen keyboard on windows.

Basically I keep my laptop next to my bed on a table and use it while sleeping so if I have on screen keyboard like windows I can just use mouse while laying down without having to use my keyboard and just type with my mouse.

previously I am on Fedora and used the gnome extension keyboard and I just worked even though it has its own bugs. Then I shifted to Arch and used gnome with extension and atleast it worked until gnome 44.

Then after some update gnome was updated from 44 to 45 and some thing broke and I am too stupid to debug so I installed KDE from tty and until now I am only a gnome user and never tried KDE. Cant believe how good it is and I like it having more options so I dont want to go back to gnome and only issue is on screen keyboard.

I tried the inbuilt malit and every thing from aur and nothing works. Please please suggest me some keyboard like on screen keyboard for KDE wayland where I only have to use mouse for typing.

Edit:

For some stupid reason I deleted gnome extensions folder just now and magically gnome wayland is working again after idk 4 fking months and yaaay fk meeee may be I will keep using this keyboard extension for now and Gnome. What about KDE ??? Please KDE and Gnome devs please make a good on screen keyboard so that users can type which is one of the most basic things. Make linux accessible. Cant believe I have to say this ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Please inbuilt on screen keyboard. For the love of god windows on screen keyboard is miles ahead of any Linux alternative and on Wayland the scene is even worse.
