Yes, I use it practically daily and have had 0 issues aside from the very rare occasional maintenance/short outage. here's the guide originally from reddit that I followed after spending some time trying to figure it out

I want to count myself in, but man am I struggling so hard - I basically attempted/started to migrate to fediverse day 1 of the api announcements. When I browsed reddit, I would find content entertaining and makes me laugh, stuff I would share, and I would have fun browsing. I am finding a whole different humor that I don't like, too political and unfunny. Maybe I need to fix my subscriptions but idk

Maybe I haven't figured out lemmy yet but there's a lot that's a hassle for me, I feel like I've subscribed to most things I enjoy. I've tried various apps and have enjoyed Connect the longest but am holding out for Boost for Lemmy. Like I have a lack of notifications for replies (which I thought I figured out), lack of things I'm used to that reddit has, desktop browser view not having expanded cards (I like to see full media and not having to click), having different instances not all 1 account (like I had posts from lemmy.world which I switched off of, now I'm in lemm.ee but I wish I could have all my history and everything, being duplicate communities across different instances, home page sorting view (I've tried 6h, 12h, top month, new, I just feel like I see the same old posts way too often and not new hot stuff). Then there's just small stuff here and there, like seeing the card preview that looks like an image, so I click it, but get redirected to an article which I don't want. There's more stuff, but I'm already rambling way too much, I've just been looking for somewhere to post this

There's so many times where I have a question about something or need advice, like intermittent fasting or gym stuff, and could quickly and easily post and find on reddit. I feel so dirty using reddit but all this complication makes me want to give up and give in. I care about not supporting a shitty app and garbage CEO/decisions but now this is probably affecting me more than them

I was a Boost user, I still have it installed and once in a while use it when finding information, and at least it still works somehow so fingers crossed lol

Like you said though, protesting isn't easy. This is just a lot of effort and sacrifice man that most people probably aren't willing to give, which is understandable. I'm not sure if this will ever fully replace reddit unless reddit keeps killing itself and manages to somehow push away casuals that don't care about ads or shitty app design or shitty decisions

@CorrosiveCapital@lemmy.world Looks interesting. Thank you, I'll take a look!

[–] Jaluvshuskies@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Nice, I'll take a peep at that too. Thanks :)

[–] Jaluvshuskies@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

ah okay thanks, yea I just wanted to make sure. I've used those 5 office products and didn't think of an easier way to make what I'm making in those, so I was a little confused. Maybe there is a way that I don't know about but I was surprised at the least

I'll take a look at Draw.IO. thanks!!

@slazer2au@lemmy.world I hit the reply arrow but it seems like this is just a normal comment, tagging you just in case

Would those office products be able to divide the sections in the same colored way that is done in my example? It seems like a weird thing, so that's my main concern. I'll take a look at Draw.IO. Isn't ms office just word? I don't have any paid office versions so whenever I need to use office products I just use the online version (sheets, docs, etc)

Also, there's 3 things I forgot to add for what I'm looking for: (i'll edit OP)

  1. the ability to adjust canvas size / full dimensions (see how in the example below its a vertical guide. I also would want to be able to add additional space if it gets cramped, so also the ability to select multiple elements and move together
  2. the ability to save the project as a PNG, I’m sure I could probably just screenshot with snipping tool but that isn’t super ideal
  3. having elements snap to keep everything aligned easily (or any other way to keep things aligned, rather than what I've had to do with pain.net which is just manually dragging & eyeballing the alignment)

I didn't know whether it would be best to post in a windows, open source, or software community for this - but this seems best. If not, please redirect me and I will be on my way :)

I'm on the hunt for some kind of windows software (or website is fine) that allows me to craft a guide. I have been using https://www.getpaint.net/ but it's just so tedious and meticulous to align everything perfectly (which you can see if you look at my example below). I would like the software to allow me to:

  • Add/edit text, images, resize images
  • Move around content (text/images)
  • Color sections
  • Create shapes/drawings (ideally with color customization like borders & thickness levels) - including lines and other shapes like arrows, circles, etc
  • Dividers between sections (see image for an example)
  • Modify background color
  • Modify text font (type, size, color)
  • Text formatting (bullets, numbers) though I can also just manually write 1. 2. etc, or draw a circle shape if needed
  • ADDED: the ability to adjust canvas size / full dimensions (see how in the example below its a vertical guide. I also would want to be able to add additional space if it gets cramped, so also the ability to select multiple elements and move together
  • ADDED: the ability to save the project as a PNG, I'm sure I could probably just screenshot with snipping tool but that isn't super ideal
  • ADDED: having elements snap to keep everything aligned easily (or any other way to keep things aligned, rather than what I've had to do with pain.net which is just manually dragging & eyeballing the alignment)

This is specifically for video games but could honestly apply for anything that could have a cheat sheet or a guide

Here is an example for a Lost Ark raid - anything that can make this is what I'm looking for

I am willing to pay a one time fee for a product if it's a a price affordable enough for me, otherwise I'm looking for something possibly FOSS. I'm hoping there's something out there better for this than paint.net , but there might not be. I appreciate any suggestions in advance!

Thanks once again, jesus I can't read lol

Ah that's the important part I was forgetting, I appreciate the correction!

[–] Jaluvshuskies@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

As far as I understand, yes! That's correct. ~~I have 1 account so I can't stream multiple devices at the same time~~. But if you have 2 separate accounts there shouldn't be issues. I'm like 95% sure but someone correct me if wrong

EDIT: As I was corrected below, you only can't stream multiple devices at the same time when using different external IP addresses

This is what I understand as well. I have been using it (well, specifically streamio + Rd with torrentio addon) for half a year so far and it's fantastic. Definitely seems too good to be true, but there's no catch imo :)

There's only 3 cons which for me aren't big deal breakers unless it's important to you

  • No auto renewal
  • Not free, it's like $6 for 6 months or something which imo is insanely affordable and an incredibly good deal
  • If you watch on multiple devices but at the same time, you get banned

EDIT: As I was corrected below, bullet 3 only applies when ~~under the same IP~~ using different external IP addresses
