Zidane apparently has a certain aura and presence that people really feel when around him. Not even necessarily due to his skills as a player or his status in society. I think even if he had been a regular average joe he would be one of those people that exude leadership and confidence.
So there’s a good chance Messi is under that spell even if he sees himself as equal or superior.
Except that Europe has 20 teams as the ones in South America as well as these really weak one.
Also, Argentina and Brazil have gotten 10 and 12 goal wins before and this 14-0 just broke the record so it’s really not the evidence you think it is.
