I also think the "confusion" of fediverse is overblown. People aren't confused. First adopters who don't want to be screamed at by flying squid aren't telling friends and family to join.

This place is primarily made up of a ton anarchist and communists screaming and spreading their own bullshit. Centrist and and less progressive folks are commonly shouted at, called bootlickers, or Nazis for relatively centrrist views.
Mods and admins are far less balanced than reddit or pre x Twitter as well. LWis about to as close to center as you can get and it's quite obvious.
No. They federate all of their content. By publishing that content they have approved it. And we know that they have had a decision they have made and will continue to make. So yes LW does support violence.
100% monkeys were not meant to have real discussions behind an anonymous wall. People act differently with little to no repercussions. Add in vocal minorities, group think, bots, and you have a recipe for hate. Good well meaning people screaming at each other from the same tent is pretty obvious on Reddit and moreso on Lemmy but it's nothing compared to Facebook and Twitter which are more representative of populations.
I'm about to go full boomer here. The Internet even pre social media was the end for globalism and what most of the west thinks of the good days (yes I realize it was far from perfect but you can submit the trend has gone changed downwards with regards to global stability). While yes it gives people the ability to safely explore and learn it more often gives a voice to shitty dumb and uneducated opinions and ideas without repercussions. Add social media and essentially the digital communications wars governments and zealots are engaging in at a scale we've never seen.
There are pros and cons to this but big tech has realized they can bury classic medical informatics companies on the small cheap medical stuff. Watches such monitor vitals, thermometers, hearing aids, snoring and breathing, etc. All of it is desired by the mass market. I bought my dad a pixel watch after he had his bypass is a (arguably) useful device that can actually save your life.
It's mainly testing and standards. Same with watches now. Big tech realized they can make better shit, they just need to deal with the FDAs of the world and they can thoroughly trounce ingrained medical tech.
