Your observation is valid. It seems people don't like it but that is the reality. We are doing nothing to stop any of this. Peaceful protests are going to be ignored. People are just too comfortable in their lives to make any sort of sacrifice. Most people are up to their ears in debt. Most do not own that house, the car or the boat and are in debt beyond that. It's become the norm to live way beyond your actual means. Living pay check to pay check means losing everything you have. No one wants to do that. By the time we reach that point, I'm pretty sure there will definitely be nothing we can do.

It's been so obvious for many years that Republicans are not playing by the rules. The only counter is to also not play by the rules. Being polite and orderly when the country has already been stolen by Republicans in Congress, the White House and validated by the ones in the Supreme Court.. serves no one but those same Republicans.

I'm for skipping over the useless waste of time. I mourn the loss of the US. It wasn't perfect, far from it, but we had periods of progress towards a better future. Now, the game is rigged and is becoming even more so in favor of the Republican fascists. They control all the legal avenues and are corrupting them. How is it ever going to be possible to politely wrest power from them when the entire democratic process is rigged? The solution as I see it is for the blue states to leave the union. The red states are weaker in every way and where most of this poison comes from. I think joining Canada actually does make sense even if it was proposed partly in jest.

If we do this slowly, we become ever weaker as the fascist state gets stronger. Eliminate our rights, eliminating our voices and literally eliminating people. People are just not facing the reality of this situation. There is no legal recourse when the law backs anything the Republicans do and declares the Republican in the White House to be above the law.

Our time to prevent any of this happening has passed. People collectively shrugged and let the fascist state win. I just don't see how we are going to ever get back to how things were since people are not taking this seriously. If they were, we would already have beheaded the king and his enablers.

You know how in beheading say, a chicken. the chicken can survive for a long time without a head? Even though it clearly has no head, no future and is the walking dead? This is The United States of America. The walking dead. We are only going through the motions. What was, is dead. We now have a king and for all intents and purposes, a completely pacified population. Greatest coup in history masterminded brilliantly by Putin. I mean, it wasn't really brilliant though, was it? It was telegraphed and painfully obvious to anyone with an IQ greater than their shoe size. Still though, here we all are. Fucked.

What is surprising to me is why any "blue" state is paying federal taxes or following any laws.. or any of us for that matter. The law clearly no longer applies.

We have not reached the floor. I don't see mass daily protests or armed insurrection. Apparently we're all ok with this so far. When the fascists have pushed so far that people will sacrifice some comfort and safety to do something about it is when we reach the floor. Right now, people are still too comfortable.

This is THE problem. Statements like this. She did the ONLY thing she had to do. The failing was not hers, it was COLLECTIVELY ours. The failing was not making her president. How are people still not getting that no matter what, she was clearly and without doubt the better choice. THAT is what matters. Everyone trying to split hairs and justify her not winning, still doesn't get it.

I interject reality into my wants. The reality is, and this cannot be understated, we must unite behind WHOEVER has a chance of beating the fascist oligarchy. Priorities people, priorities. Your statement, when enacted is partly how we arrived where we are now.

Edit: Just to be clear. I absolutely agree with her and I also agree with you. I just will not make it a hard line. Putting our votes behind a losing ticket does not help in this situation since we may have already passed the point of no return in terms of our votes counting. If we don't unite now, I for one am convinced that will be our last chance, IF it even exists.

I think it had been building for years due to ever increasing numbers of people behaving badly behind pseudonyms online but the majority of asshats still maintained the illusion of not being asshats. Trump's first ascendancy gave all those closet asshats permission to no longer care about maintaining illusions.
