Eh, who knows. You can buy a news story now so we'll never really know much of the truth. I know I haven't been back, and I don't even care about API stuff, I just disliked the way the CEO was so dismissive of what the reader/user base wanted.
It's the same as the JW's I bet. They argue that the current society views it poorly so you have to conform, and then argue that you don't follow the world in the next breath. Control is a hellava thing.
Gnomoria $3.99 and got about 300 hours out of it. It was a game that took a lot of inspiration from Dwarf Fortress but had 'graphics.' The dev stepped away a while ago but pretty sure everyone that bought it got their $$ worth.
I don't see the issue here..did they expect to get their name in credits for doing their job? They can still put it on their resume...
