Do they somehow not have the rights to Dino Crisis anymore?! WTF Capcom.... What's with the dinosaur snubbing?

[–] Couldbealeotard@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I think there actually is a rights issue. Sphere Hunter on YouTube has some good videos on the series

Nice, thanks for the letting me know. I love her videos !

It will not compare even close to the GameCube remake.

Why would they do this? RE1 is so vastly different in tone and style compared to every RE game after RE2. Arguably Dino Crisis is a way better pick for this because it was always trying to be an action game from the start. RE1 is a puzzle game with horror elements, it is anything but an action game.

Ah! Glad to see I wasn't the first one to mention Dino Crisis!!

You can't make a puzzle game with the new engine?

The GameCube remake was already perfect. They even rereleased it as Resident Evil HD. There is no reason to do it again.

Because there are people like me that can't stand tank controls. Scream at me till you're blue in the face about how I'll "get used to it" or I just need to "git gud" etc and nothing will change my mind. Fuck tank controls.

I'd kill to play this game in the same style as the modern RE remakes, the OG will always be there for you to play if you don't like the remake.

The GameCube remake, rereleased as Resident Evil HD, includes 2D directional controls called "Alternate" for non-Tank Enjoyers.

The GameCube and PC version have the option to not use tank controls.

I want a Code Veronica remake so bad

Only like 1% related to the topic at hand, but man I would love to see SE remake Parasite Eve.

I almost always hate these remake announcements but this one is fine to me, bringing original RE inline with the rest of the REmakes doesn't seem like the worst idea.

I was so happy they remade the early ones but disappointed that they didn't remake the first. The RE2 remake was so good

They did remake the first game. Resident Evil HD is a remaster of the GameCube remake of the first game, and its perfect.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

That's an hd version of 22 year old remake

[–] RightHandOfIkaros@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

And? Its perfect as it is.

[–] hal_5700X@sh.itjust.works 0 points 6 months ago (3 children)

How many times are they going to remake the first game?

[–] eldesgraciado@lemm.ee 3 points 6 months ago (2 children)

To be fair, they only remade the first game once, and that was 22 years ago, so a RE-REmake doesn't sound that outrageous. REmake is almost perfect as is, it's my favorite RE, it will never go away and will never be replaced. A remake is welcome but not necessary. I would prefer a remake of Code Veronica.

[–] MeDuViNoX@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 months ago

Code Veronica really needs some love.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

The real zombie is the RE franchise. It keeps getting up, disfigured from what it was before, changed in ways no one could imagine and all we can do is look at it in horror before trying to avoid it

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 0 points 6 months ago

That was like so long ago. The remake is outdated already
