Apr 25, 2024 - Theme Thursday: April Showers

  • Brush: Declaration Grooming Know It All 28mm B14 Badger Knot
  • Razor: Mühle Rocca R94
  • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [2]
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Petrichor - Soap (Excelsior)
  • Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Summer Storm - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Southern Witchcrafts - Tres Matres - Eau de Parfum

I have a fascination with the way dirt, rain, and ozone can create this otherworldly scent. The etymology of the "Ichor" portion of the word petrichor derives from Greek Mythology, meaning the blood or essence of the gods.

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: Stando Perun
  • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
  • Brush: AP Shave Co. 30 mm Tuxedo Fan w/ black & clear handle
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Indigo
  • Post Shave: Thayer's Cucumber facial spray; Natura Siberica ASB gel

1 pass head SOTN. I feel like I have to relearn DE safety razors. A couple of spots still feel rough; this was nowhere near a close shave.

Indigo is a good scent. Not as great as Tobacconist, but still good. Quite fitting for my current mood as it's based on a blues song. The weather is still cold, dark and rainy over here so it also fits that. Funny thing: as I was rinsing the soap out of the tub and tried to shake out the excess water, the whole puck came out and I had to clean it again. Seems like nothing goes quite as planned for me currently...

Onwards to Friday. Since some people seem to dig my song sharing, here's another one for those of you who bother to read this far: Molchat Doma - Toska

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I really enjoyed the theme for today so I gave it the full monty. Thanks u/tsrbike for the suggestion. After the Rain is the first Declaration Grooming soap that I bought. I enjoy the scent and should really reach for this some more.

As always, the Iron Chancellor produced a flawless shave.

  • Brush: Stirling 24mm Synthetic
  • Blade: Dorco SD507 disposable (4)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Varen - Soap
  • Post Shave: Aqua Velva - Ice Blue - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

First!

Decent travel shave. Slightly rushed, but not too bad. These Dorco disposables are very nice for me. Almost zero blade feel, but decently efficient.

Jeez! You're really getting up there! ;-) People will tell you that each personal decade comes a little faster. They're right, but as we both know, time is an abstraction. I think it's best to treat it as such.

  • Razor: Ralf Aust 6/8, Full Hollow Square Point
  • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts/APR - Grave Fruit
  • Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts - Grapefruit Aftershave Splash

First go stropping on the Kanayama 80k. It felt great. Real smooth and light draw. So happy to have this. Truly a Grail strop.

Close and comfortable shave, no nicks or irritation.
