Hey. Just wanted to say thanks for all the comments yesterday. We're still in a fragile place but committed and still in love, so hopefully that'll count for something. Counselling this morning - we've been going regularly for a few years now - sometimes it helps, sometimes we don't talk for a while afterwards. Hoping today will be a productive and considerate session. Anyways, thanks y'all.

Tomorrow is my 20th anniversary of arriving in Australia.

Boy it's been a ride.

I bought myself a market trolley today. Why did I not arrange this years ago?

[–] bull@aussie.zone 12 points 7 months ago (2 children)

A nanna trolly thing? I've had one for years and it has been brilliant. Almost essential purchase for inner-city apartment living.

It doubles as a normal trolly for boxes and other large things (but not anything crazy heavy) by taking the bag off.

Some bad shit going down in Bondi Junction. Hate to see that sort of news. At least it seems to be resolving with shoppers being allowed to leave after the centre locked down.

I love my in-laws, I do, but every time they vist I’m reminded how awful tv is. Why are we watching the morning show and teleshopping shit?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago

Tvsn is the funniest shit on tv. Trying to convince the 3 people watching that they need to be quick to purchase the most ugliest jewellery for a half an hour live on tv is comical.

Nobody says brunch is the most important meal of the day, but, they should.

Today is an incredibly packed Saturday of chores. So many clothes and so much cooking. One item is a hand pounded chilli sambal that is gonna make my weak and flabby arm fall off (not possible to get the shallots right without pounding - mums recipe and I promised I'd make it for a family lunch tomoz). I'm en route to an event I signed up for months ago that I don't feel ready for but am going to anyway because I gotta live a little too... and I still have car and job things to sort out. Alright, I can do this, I can do this...

Meanwhile, local incoherent screamy guy has taken to high st today. I am surprised the bougie locals haven't agitated to have him moved to different housing yet. Unless he has, but he's decided to come visit.

Last week there was a different dude up the street yelling at "fucking Belinda you fucking lying cunt". I suppose that's why the owners haven't upped my rent this year... that side of things is mostly quite manageable in the cool weather with the windows closed though.

Digging away at Operation Sort Shit after it being suspended due to the lurgie. Finally starting to think I may just get it done.
Anyway entrance to Mum's old room cleared and photos of Nana's old wardrobe and china taken and sent to the second hand place. Now having a breather and a coffee before I start again.

Memory I did not need: 60+ teenage women simultaneously deploying Incense deodorant after PE

[–] wscholermann@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

School corridors filled with incense deodorant also triggers me.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago

We did have showers, but no doors so nobody used them. Gosh.

I have decided I am going on a holiday at home. Imma just gonna read books and do minimum around the house. There are a dozen antique travel books I haven't read yet, aka a Baedeker holiday as my Belgian neighbour used to say. The science and stuff books can wait.

Will have even more frozen food than usual. Might even get a cleaner in.

today my non chic older women's outfit is a black skirt with a peasant print, from dangerfield, a black knit top and a marle vintage knitted jacket with embroidered leaves ( that might be a little small )

i still have longish black hair

wife is away for the weekend, so I am home alone. It's by choice - I need to catch up on some work, needed some quiet time etc, but am feeling a little melancholy. Went for a long walk in this morning's beautiful weather. Now feeling a little lost.

Nothing at all serious - I am perfectly fine, just... having a moment.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Order pizza, get drunk, jerk off. This is the way.

well, my equivalent is probably a long bath with a book and a cup of tea, but yes, I understand the principle

I might need to severely cut down on or leave this other online group due to toxicity. I don't want to have to. :(

Feeling miserable and like shit. I wish I wasn't sick of Minecraft. Maybe I'll find some singleplayer free game that works on Mac and bury myself in that for a while.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 8 points 7 months ago

there is nothing wrong with leaving an online group to find one where you'll be happier , you haven't failed

I'm on a few different groups that are based on tv or books and they are just fun and kind, find some like that. 🀞😘

Thinking about heading to a park bass music rave (think DnB etc.) tonight but it's a 3-4hr round trip commute by PT (bus.. so no guarantees there) with 40mins of that walking hrmm... on the fence but they're always good times..

For reference it takes me 3hrs on PT to get to queenscliff on 3 connecting services which is 120km away. This thing is 10km away (kew to bulleen) and 2 services... crazy.

Tan Son Nhat airport really needs a facelift, Botox, fillers and everything else you can throw at it.

Still cleaner than Tullamarine though.

Melbourne airport is a joke. Walked around for fifteen minutes trying to find a toilet that was free and with toilet paper.

Go to wash my hands and half the soap dispensers, taps and dryers broken.

Is this really the best we can do? To say nothing of the hodge podge layout and utterly forgettable interior design.

lovely morning here and the start of a bit of a dry spell.

I made a dating profile on Boo. My expectations are at the Mariana trench level.

Do not be deceived by the precious stones I possess,

For I am still culturally imbued by lower socio economic housing estates,

I once possessed very little but now I am bejewelled with riches,

However fear not, I have not forgotten or forsaken my roots.

I started watching Fallout on Amazon.

It looks amazing, has one of my fave actors and he is gooood in this, Walter Goggins, the depiction of the war is very frightening, the heightened cold war under Reagan used to give me nightmares, this is also nightmare material. I might finish watching later. 😧 I just woke up from a nightmare about Iran. It's not looking good out there.

A walk, may as well go for a walk and breath in some eucalyptus laden air.

Apparently we are going on a day date to Timezone. Didn’t realise those still existed. What horrendous plastic should I spend my copious tickets on?

Is there anything more stressful than airline checkin and security?

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 11 points 7 months ago

Yeah, that one time when there was a bright flash port side , just during takeoff, and then a flight crew person screaming β€œwhere’s the manual!!??”

That was a bit stressy.

If you occasionally watch, or used to watch, or have been thinking about watching MMA, tomorrow is THE DAY to do so. It's UFCs biggest event in like 5 years: UFC 300. The fight card is ridiculously stacked with talent. The boss announced yesterday that the normal $50k bonuses for Fight of the Night, Performance of the night, and Knockout of the night will be increased to 300k!! Every fighter is massively incentivised to make their fights spectacular. It's going to be incredible. Early prelims start at 8am tomorrow, main card at 12pm.

You can watch early prelims and prelims on Kayo. If you're interested in a list of bootleg links with pop-ups that is only semi reliable, DM me.

Anyone already watching. Enjoy!!!

After a gym session today I can definitely say eating healthy has made a really big difference.

It's like night and day. Despite the fact that I'm already sick of chicken and vegetables every dinner, it's worth it.
