I read a similar critique comparing Catcher in the Rye and “The Bell Jar”. So I read The Bell Jar, and I was blown away. Such potent book! The representation of women’s constraining roll in society is incredibly moving.

Now I’ll have to add Ex-Wife to my reads, and compare it to Gatsby. I honestly liked Gatsby, so a similar book would be interesting.

Because I was forced to read The Great Gatsby in school. It was pretty terrible.

But the question is also: why were you forced to read Gatsby and now Ex-Wife?
