I don't see much the point: cotton breaks easier than polyester, is not as expandable as spandex, cotton absorbs moisture, whereas polyester keeps it out.

Maybe I'm wrong?

Bro you’ve been asking too many questions about leggings.

Lmao. OP, maybe you can ask a more specialized community like !malefashionadvice@lemmy.world for all your leggings questions.

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago

Whoa, that post history. Now I have to wonder if this is a fetish or if OP has an obsessive/compulsive disorder.

Honestly, you’re undecided. That’s fair. But it’s leggings. It’s not like you’re making a major purchase that requires this much attention to detail. No one will lose their life if you make a mistake.

Go out and buy a few different pair of leggings. Try them out. Make a personal decision to which ones you liked best. Return, throw away, or give away the ones you don’t like.

End of story.

I disagree actually. Be an informed consumer. Ask questions in open forums. Buy quality, use for a long time. Avoid fast fashion.

That said, I don't know the first thing about leggings.

I know they make terrible shirts.

Where there's a will, there's a way

I like a cotton/stretchy blend. Straight cotton would get baggy in the knees and butt, I think.

Now, unfortunately the stretchy stuff probably means micro plastics when washing.

Personally I think cotton feels nicer on the skin much more than the other materials listed.

It's more of a question about comfort and purpose. I suspect you'll need to try them all.

I'm not sure if the science of it, but I find cotton to be much more comfortable. Synthetic fibres get really sweaty while cotton feels comfortable in all weather. And I use to have skin issues (eczema and psoriasis) and cotton was defitnely less irritating than synthetic fibres.

My fave is merino wool leggings, very soft and good at regulating body temperature. Doesn't get too hot but also protects from the cold.

I use cotton leggings. I have some that are 100% cotton and others that are 99% cotton. But it depends on what you want. I mostly wear them under pants when it's cold outside or as home wear, but I have one or two pairs that I wear in the summer (sun protection and other reasons). I like them and they work well for me. But my guess is it depends on what you want to achieve with them. If you have one of these butts that make you want to "poing" it with your finger, I'm not sure each model will look like a tight second skin. That you would need to try out. Also the ankle, if you have very thin ankles and want the leggings to be very tight at that point, you should definitely try them on first.
