Booked a heap of our travel and accommodation for an upcoming US trip last night. Don't think I've ever spent that much money in one go before.... They sure do love to nickel and dime you on everything what with listing one price, but then it's plus taxes, plus service fee, plus extra if you want to guarantee your spot, extra if you want to sit together, gratuities not included.

Just saw an article on ABC about that exact thing (drip pricing.)

It must be exhausting to go anywhere in the US. You'd need cash on hand to tip people in situations where you can't just opt to add something to the amount taken off your card. I'm also opposed to the tipping culture (like most rational people) but would be acutely aware that most of the workers you'd be likely to tip are relying on them.

Last time we were over there we stayed at the Bellagio in Vegas. One guy took our suitcases from the reception desk (and expected a tip), but a different guy was the one who brought them to our room... he also expected a tip.
