I highly recommend checking out the website while it's still up https://willyschocolateexperience.com/

They didn't even bother to fix the fucked-up text on the AI-generated images. It's amazing. I can't wait to experience the dodjection and ukxepcted twits

What you don't want to go catgacating?

[–] boogetyboo@aussie.zone 9 points 6 months ago

I've never booked any event or experience in a fixed venue that doesn't show actual photos of said venue. Booking or travelling long distances because of this ai generated nonsense is alarming.

Do people not read anymore? Do people not know AI generated imagery at all when they see it?

“a pasadise of sweet teats”

[–] GoosLife@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

That fucking sent me. I don't want my money back anymore, I was promised sweet teats and I'll have my sweet teats!

What can I expect from Willys chocolate experience? Step into the magical realm of Willy's Chocolate Experience, a universe where confectionary dreams are brought to life! Explore an array of themed rooms like the Enchanted Garden and the Vision Room and Lemonade Gallery, each offering unique and delightful surprises. Not only will you witness the magic of chocolate, but you'll also have the chance to taste it! Prepare for a journey filled with delicious treats, enchanting adventures, and moments worth capturing. Be sure to get your tickets for this extraordinary experience!

It sounds like a phishing scam. Everything is so incredibly vague. What is an "enchanted garden"? what's in it? What do you do there? Fuck you, pay us to find out.

Speaking to my pal today who is an aspiring standup and also does work as an extra for tv shows. He's just told me someone in his group chat was hired to play Wonka and had been given a 12 page script to learn which was also AI generated.

Edit: he's talking to the media now

Edit 2: and now he's been me too'd. Former drama student of his is accusing him of sexual impropriety. Could this story get any more nuts?

"Any resemblance to any character, fictitious or living, is purely coincidental. This experience is in no way related"

I call bs

"Unfortunately last minute we were let down in many areas of our event and tried our best to continue on and push through and now realise we probably should have cancelled first thing this morning instead."

What kinda fyre fest excuse is this? Slugworth came round and stole all the good decorations in the night.

Like how did they not on Friday be like "yeah this is trash."

Like I've seen school dances who just had volunteers and construction paper come together 100 times better.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Wait, were you there, or is there video somewhere I should be checking out?

[–] ericbomb@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Oh just the pictures/videos.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Oh my god, I just saw the pictures. LOL! What were they thinking..!!

[–] ericbomb@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Right? SURELY two days before they could have seen no decorations were coming together, they had no candy, and nothing was looking nice, they could have sent out a "We are sad to announce due to an issue with our main vendors, we have to cancel as we can't provide an experience we are happy with. Refunds are being processed, we hope to provide a better experience at a later date, and hope this has not caused too many problems for you.", that wouldn't have even made the news and they could have ran another one in six months if they really ewanted.

Like did they think it'd magically not be trash when people showed up? Just crazy that they even bothered opening the doors with so little set up.

An arcade in a strip mall is more inviting.

And yes, I completely agree with what you said! It would have been so easy to save face.

Stuart Sinclair, 29, travelled two hours from Dundee with his two sons and four-year-old daughter to the event.

...

Mr Sinclair said his children only received a couple of jelly babies and a quarter of a can of Barr's Limeade.

A Willy Wonka-inspired experience was brought to a halt following complaints it was "an absolute shambles of an event" and left children in tears.

... being promised a "chocolate fantasy like never before" where "dreams become reality".

Despite advertisements pledging a "journey filled with wondrous creations and enchanting surprises", families instead described the experience as "absolutely appalling"

Oh and great idea to have a person dressed in a terrifying outfit to come out and scare all the kids. They were all crying - it was terrible, shocking and embarrassing to be honest.

Sold a dream and delivered a nightmare

Sounds like a genuine Willy wonker experience 10/10 would never go back.

Huh, not what I expected. I thought the scandal was going to be that they took it way too far making it too much like the movies and maybe someone got hurt.
