Right inside to that bit when it opens up at the end - my ear itches. If I put my little finger in I can feel the itch at the end.

I know if I could use a pair of sharp curved tweezers I could scratch that itchy bit and reach a level of ecstasy reserved for the gods.

Can I ask my GP to do this carefully? What if I provide tweezers?

Tell your GP about your discomfort and ask to see an ENT.

Good idea. With all those little branches and twigs, I'm sure they'd be able to reach.

You don't really want to stick anything metal in your ear, but I use these:

Boxes of 10 at my local pharmacy.

They do make reusable metal tools like this, called ear spoons or ear picks.

Oh, those are awesome too... but I can't in good conscience point someone else to a metal tool for their ear. ;)

If they come to it on their own and damage themselves, that aint on me! LOL.

What do the honey fin looking bits do?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

Just a different way of clearing wax, harder to clean.

Be weird to make an appointment just for that.

Yeah, I'm all for people going to the doctor rather than thinking "oh it'll be fine", but this does seem like wasting their time

I read, recently, that you shouldn’t put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear.

I get that exact same feeling from the eczema I get in my ears. Some steroid drops usually clear it right up
