Housemate and I are on the house hunt and we found this lovely house in a place we love, and in very fine print it says you aren't allowed to use the carport/granny flat or the shed...

Why the fuck would I pay to use half the house/property, you've got to be fucking joking. What's more is I don't want to run into someone in the backyard every other day while I'm paying probably triple their rent. I don't know maybe I'm being unreasonable, but it just seems ridiculous that you pay all this money to basically have a room mate you don't even get to pick.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 13 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Ugh I hate that. A house I rented in Epping for 5 years had the stipulation that tenants couldn't use the shed either, so I had to store the yard stuff in the dilapidated sunroom, which I got complaints about because the lawn mower made it smell a bit like petrol. Couldn't use the sunroom because of the massive holes in the roof, but it smelled like petrol so fuck me right?

Ugh, I feel your pain, it sucks ass to rent from slumlords.

[โ€“] bananafungus@aussie.zone 7 points 9 months ago

The system really is fucked. God forbid you want to actually use the house you're paying out the arse for.

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Yeah Iโ€™d skip that one. Not worth the potential on going drama, which you know for sure there will be. Pass.

I've got a shoulder injury from tennis. I've watched far too much for my body to handle.

nice little ride on the foreshore beach path at pt. lonsdale to the shops.

I usually avoid it this time of year as you have kids running randomly and people walking aimlessly in the middle of the path. But thanks to a young fam riding ahead of me they paved the way doing all the dinging work. They were relentless. Just bulldozed that path no one stood a chance.

Edit:

And a little vid of the resident maggie:

She only sings occasionally for me so I have to try and sweet-talk her into it.

[โ€“] tone212_@aussie.zone 8 points 10 months ago

Went to the tennis tonight. $$ ticket for seeing a couple one sided matches. Just the luck of the draw sometimes but still. Food and drinks were massively overpriced, super crowded and pretty messy in areas. Hate it when you spend a lot of money for a second rate experience.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 8 points 10 months ago (2 children)

8 hours of pointing were done.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Didn't your mom teach you it's rude to point?

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 9 months ago

oh I not only pointed, I hosed, scraped, raked and stuffed. Got real sloppy with it in places.

Could the lawn PLEASE stop growing?! Itโ€™s friggin insane!!!!

[โ€“] wscholermann@aussie.zone 8 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Jasper coffee is nice but at 6 dollars for a medium cap one could be forgiven I was at the airport!

It's all getting a bit much now. Definitely would not get coffee from here regularly.

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Cries in soy milk surcharge and preference for a mocha.

Can't have coffee regularly these days any more anyway, but ordering it is definitely a rare treat, not even a weekly indulgence

[โ€“] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 5 points 9 months ago

And oat. Strangely enough there are still cafes around that are reasonable, but they're never areas I frequent.

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Long slow day at work today. Counting down the minutes until freedom.

[โ€“] notgold@aussie.zone 5 points 9 months ago

Long slow drive myself. The clock feels like it's rolling backwards

Food, glorious food!
Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood --
Cold jelly and custard!
Pease pudding and saveloys
What next is the question?

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 5 points 9 months ago (4 children)

My mother of very little musical and pop culture knowledge (terminated after The Beatles and My Fair Lady) would ALWAYS have this on her tongue when trying to raise some kind of enthusiasm (sometimes in herself) around food and cooking.

@Thornburywitch @bacon... rich gentlemen have it boys... indigestion!

... why yes, I did learn that song for a school production, why do you ask? ๐Ÿ˜Š

Quite like Dodger btw, nice little reboot of the tale, eh.

[โ€“] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 3 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Looking forward to that when it comes out. Have you read Terry Pratchett's book Dodger - a real gem imo. Entirely faithful to the spirit of the original, but details different.

I think pizza is on the menu this eve.

Also day written off to bad bad headache. Any headache sufferers find heaches getting worse? Itโ€™s now like getting death hangovers without the alcohol. (Luckily itโ€™s not all the time and I know some of my contributors, but hellโ€ฆ)

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 points 9 months ago

Is it headache or migraine? There are treatments that can help lessen the frequency and severity in migraines.

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 9 months ago

I am, but I think it could be eye strain

[โ€“] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 7 points 9 months ago

Went to Highpoint with the Minis for a free Bluey show. The kids were keen to go but I think it was one of those times when they realised they're getting older. Managed to get school shoes for the Elder and the kids scored a free ball each. Ate at Schnitz and San Churro (kids choice). Am well tired.

I've been playing Spider-Man 2 a lot this weekend and it is absolutely amazing (pun intended). Spider-Man 1 and the Miles Morales game were awesome but this has taken them to an entirely new level. I haven't read any spoilers on the main story so it keeps continuing to surprise and thrill me.

I love the Batman Arkham games and I've been desperately wanting more. This game has possibly surpassed them. Absolutely loving it.

I'm taking a break to pretend to be a human being for a little bit. Just wow.

[โ€“] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 3 points 9 months ago

For me the story felt a tadโ€ฆ. Not flat justโ€ฆ I think it tired to do too much, and miles didnโ€™t get enough screen time as a result. Thatโ€™s a personal taste thing though.

[โ€“] wscholermann@aussie.zone 5 points 9 months ago

I keep thinking why do I feel sleepy tonight. Then I realize it feels cooler tonight than it has for a long time. I'm looking forward to a nice sleep tonight.

[โ€“] fullkitwanker@aussie.zone 5 points 9 months ago

Went to the gym after a month. Treating myself to a pizza for my hard work and efforts. ๐Ÿ’ช

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 4 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I've slobbed around enough. Been in bed from 9 to 4 some days after sleeping the whole night through. Tomorrow, Monday, I'm going to reply to some overdue emails and get my life moving... spent enough time consuming media and reading crazy subreddits. I have rested and recovered enough now, from the work burnout. I believe it's possible to find something that gives me flexibility and the chance to do something new with my life, at least for this year.
